How do I get the trunk panel off to get to the tail light?
I want to change the tail light bulb on my 2006 Mustang GT. I unscrewed the two wing nuts that hold a plastic panel that covers all the light wires. But, there are a couple of plastic rivets? that still hold the cover on. How do I get them off so I can change the bulb?

Open the trunk and twist the retaining wing nuts off the studs holding the carpeted trim cover in place on the back side of the tail lamps.
Pull the carpeted trim cover out of the way and pry the plastic caps out of the holes with the screwdriver tip.
Unbolt the nuts holding the tail-lamp assembly in place using the socket set.
Pull the tail lamp assembly away from the body of the Stratus. Grab the socket for the bulb in question and twist it counterclockwise to remove it. Pull the old bulb out by hand and insert the replacement bulb. Reinstall the socket in reverse of removal.
Push the tail lamp assembly back into position and tighten the nuts back down onto the retaining studs using the socket set. Pop the plastic caps back into the holes, pull the carpeted trim cover back into position and reinstall the plastic wing nuts. Close the trunk.
Many vehicles now require that you open the trunk, pull back upholstry, and unscrew 4 or so wing nuts, and the entire light assembly comes out, and you can change the bulb easily then. This method helps against tail light water leaks, very prevelant in the olden days....
Most of these cars you have to remove the tail light lens to change the light....Pop your trunk and look for 3 or 4 black large plastic wing nuts. Unscrew these and your lens will come off of the car....Twist socket out of lens and replace bulb....
From inside the trunk. Open trunk and you'll find large black plastic wing nuts on the inner trunk wall opposite of your tail lights. Simply unscrew them and the tail light bulbs will come out of the lenses from the inside area of the trunk.
Open the truck & remove philips head screw that is located to the left of the tail light housing in the trunk lid weatherstripping housing area. Next unscrew the trunk lining screw to fold back the trunk lining to get at the two plastic wing nuts that hold the light housing.
Unscrew these two wing nuts and slide the housing out, then remove the bulbs and replace. Bulbs come out similarly to how you'd replace the front headlight bulbs (unplug, twist counter-clockwise to unlock and remove old bulb, replace with new bulb and turn clockwise to lock, plug back in).
hi inside the trunk pull back the trunk liner and there will be 3 maybe 4 plastic wing nuts remove them then remove the tail light assembly then change the bulb should be a 3057 or 3157 and reassemble
hope this helps
OPEN TRUNK LOOK WHERE TAILS LOCATED LOOK FOR LARGE PLASTIC WING NUTS.REMOVE THEM PULL TRUNK LINER AWAY ENOUGH TO REMOVE THE OTHER PLASTIC WING NUTS HOLD THE TAIL LIGHT COVER.WHEN YOU REMOVE ALL THE PLASTIC WING NUTS THE TAIL LIGHT COVER WILL COME OUT ENOUGH FOR YOU TO REMOVE THE BULB.
The Tail Lights Are Accessed From The Inside Of The Trunk There Will Either Be A Panel Immediately Behind Where The Light Is Or Carpet. Remove It And It Will Give You Access To The Rear Of The Bolts Just Grab Twist And Pull And The Light Will Come Out.
remove the trim panel at the very rear of trunk, remove it and place it out of the way, remove tail light Assemblyretaining nuts top and bottom, I think there are 6 per side, pull the tail light assembly straight back to access the bulbs for replacement.
