The drain plug should be a turn key spout on the lower driver side of the radiator.

It does not have a drain plug. The radiator hoses need to be removed to drain the radiator and flush the system.

Location of the engine coolent sensor for a 2004 VW jetta 1.8T?

drain below level first or all after engine is cold!!!
sensor is on engine block.
Drain by opening the drainplug under radiator.
If clean enough, refiil same with funnel later. Leave cap or radiator while draining otherwise will not run.

Any good reason to swap? Fan not running or gauge problem?

Locate engine block antifreeze drain plug

There is a 3/8" square head plug above the starter. This drains the left bank of the block and can be replaced with a 1/4" pipe valve.
