The battery is located under the cover immediately behind the Head lamp assembly <DRIVER side> remove the three screws that secure the cover and push the 4 tabs on the heat sink looking with the cords running from it. You can now remove this larger cover to reveal the battery the tighest space I have ever seen in a GM.
Though sometimes they can be under the rear seat or in the rear compartment. If it is under the rear compartment there should be clamps that hold a cover down over it as well as if it is under the rear seat after removing that you should be able to get at it.

your battery may be dead, have you tryed boosting it off? also if it's not a dead battery check battery terminals to insure they are tight.if not that i suspect a bad starter.sometimes when starters go bad,you can tap on the starter to get one last start out of it.hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

Where is the battery located in 2008 Equinox Sport?

    Hiya...
If you stand at the front of the Equinox's hood that's open, look at the bottom-right corner area behind the headlight area, the battery is 'hidden' underneath the black box-like part that you need to remove clips or screws to lift it up to gain access to the battery cover to reveal the battery sitting onto the battery tray.
It's one of the common thing most people wonder where the battery is located.
The battery is secured into place by a large bolt/black rectangular shaped part onto the battery tray...just unbolt it and you're ready to pull it out.

Location of battery in 2008 equinox

Under the Hood Drivers Side You will see a black plastic box
which holds the computer. Right in front of the fuse box, Two sets of wires comming out of it.
It needs to be removed ,the whole box it unsnaps , Under it is a larger black cover, under that you will find the battery.
