Question about 2001 Mazda Tribute
Had an engine light fault indicating a misfire on cylinder #3, chaged the spark plugs and boots, but the engine is still running rough and the check engine light is still on. I think an ignition coil may be bad, any ideas?

check to make sure #5 spark plug wire isn't bad, make sure you have not wired it wrong from changing plugs. You should purchase a chilton manual if you haven't already

SOURCE: How do I get to the spark plugs?
you have to dismantlement the top part of the engine to get the back 3 spark plugs. Remove the air intake. I own a Mazda Tribute and I just replaced mine.

Had the same problem, car was misfiring on cylinder 3 and 4. replaced wires, plugs, and ignition coil. still misfired on the same cynlinders. turned out the main engine wiring harness plug in was coming loose. spent well over $150 on the unneccesary repairs and ultimately fixed the problem wit a $3 bag of wire ties to hold the plug in...
