is running rich. that cutting out is called misfire.
in this case, rich caused misfiring.
Does the CEL lamp come on? Check engine lamp.

diagnosis by a technician)

Po334

P0334 is your Knock Sensor. First thing I would recommend is to stop using 85/87 Octane Gas and try a tank of 91. This will normally help the light to stay off. If it does fix it, then you know the engine is not liking the lower Octane gas.

If it does not fix the problem, then you have a Knock Sensor that is going back or you have a Misfire that it is detecting... Then you need to do some more troubleshooting but I would start with the Better Gas..

Choke coming on even in summer, is this right

it seems that your coolant temp senor is what causing this to happen it's natural inless it revs really high and stays above 1100 rpm's after the engine heats up.

No power. slight miss at idle.

did you unplug the wire behind the distributor before you timed it?
if not try that and retime it then plug it back in also you might go ahead and replace the knock sensor. I know you checked it

Engine knocking

Hi,
Good news is - I don't think you need a new engine.

As there are many moving parts that could create a knocking sound, it usually needs careful inspection to identify where it is from.
I will give a list of some of the causes and remedies. Yours will probably be one of them, but unless I was there - it could be any.

Loose exhaust component (causes rattles and thumps) - replace parts or joints.
Loose Engine mounts - Engine will move about a lot more than normal - Replacement of mounts.
Fraying Belts - causes continual ticking or slapping - Replace belts and check tension.
Timing is off - bad running, lack of power, pre ignition or knocking at low revs. Check timing belt - Replace, Tune engine.
Cracked valve - slight misfire worse at low revs - Replacement valves.
Clutch Problems - Broken spring or loose bolt - Check clutch plate - replace clutch plates.
Older engines - often accompanying smoke -
Broken Piston ring - continual ticking or occasional misfire - Replace Piston rings
Worn Piston bearings - Piston Slap - Replacement of all piston bearings.

Transmission Problems (only heard when in gear or with clutch out) - Broken gear teeth or worn bearings - Replacement of Transmission or rebuild.

Some of these remedies require engine removal and strip down, others are a simpler fix.

Power Cutting

take it back to the dealer and let them fix it. Sounds like your truck is getting too much fuel which would be a problem with injection system of the computer. Its getting too much fuel when you start which explains the smoke and when you try to rev it more gas is added and the engine can't burn all of it so it misfires. ifs its new, tell the dealer and let it be their problem.
