my liberty 125 doesnt want to start in the morning, but is fine in the evening! many times while trying to start it mornings it will make like an explosion, do as if would start running, and dies...

i've been told i should change the sparkplug (i had a new battery fixed recently) but with the manuals and the tools i couldnt remove the spark plug's cap. I'm not a mechanical person, but i tried! any secrets on how to remove the cap to access to the spark plug?

    cheers

The next thing i would check is the coil. this is on the end of the spark plug and goes to a part that looks like a big cylinder in a box. This can be checked by a meter set to ohms, place one end of a meter that goes on the spark plug end as the other goes to either the outer shell or to one end of another smaller wire. The reading should show a number like 100.00k ohms or .0001 m ohms and there are lots of in between numbers. The way to know if it is there is a problem is an ofl or a open.         This will show that the connection is broken or not working! There is also a way where  two or more wires at the opposite end of the spark plug on the coil side , if this is so then put both the ends of the meter to a set of the wires , two at a time; one lead, to one wire . The meter will show a close reading to the other way, again an ofl or open is not good.
It may take switching the wires to  find the two that work so if you see an ofl right at the start make sure the two wires work together first. If  ofl is all you find then the coil is the problem and is needed to be replaced . If the numbers show  anything that fits or a set  of numbers then  it is time to look farther on.

The spark has to come through the spark plug wire from the coil. The coil is what actually makes the energy to make the spark. The coil is powered by the battery so there should be a small wire on top of the coil that should have a positive charge to it when the ignition key is in the on position. What I would do is if the engine has a coil wire and you can put a fresh spark plug in the end of the coil wire that goes to the distributor cap, have someone ground out the threaded area of the spark plug to the engine and keep it there while you crank the engine. If there is spark there then the problem is narrowed down to it being the spark plug wires, distributor cap or rotor. If there isn't spark you will probably need to replace the coil. Good luck.

It can be 3 things. 1)The coil pack could have died (or the lead from the coil pack to the plug).2)there is a loose wire on the coil pack (simply had a small nut come loose or a plug slipped off a lug) or 3)it has a blown fuse.
I suggest you first check all your fuses, they are the most commen answer and the cheapest to fix. Then follow back from the spark plug lead to its coil pack. see if there are any loose wires attatched to it that run from the fuse box - ie provide power to it to make the spark, if so tighten it all up, and if there are any loose wires, they may need to be put back where they go. If it still isnt running, take it for a service, spark may not be the problem, could be fuel suply or compression. When you tested the spark how did you do it? If you have the spark plug out of the hole but has the wire connected, it still needs to be earthed. It you have any other peoblems, just ask Hope this helped. If not, ill run you throughthe testing procedures.

What u should do is to check the electrical system for ignition crt., check all fuses make sure all of it is ok. next check your power & ground supply for your ignition crt. If found present, check your crank shaft sensor.

Try removing the distributor cap and ceck to see if the rotor was broken. Please bear in mind this might not be the problem, but it's a start.

Cant get no spark frome plug

can you tell us what engine is in your jeep liberty? most likely you have the 3.7 v-6 but we can not assume that. if you have the v-6 with a coil for each cylinder then switch the coils from a known good cylinder and see if the same cylinder is still misfiring. if so then replace the coil and the spark plug and or all the spark plugs. those coils are prone to failure.

How to change spark plugs

Those are as easy as they come these days. Mark each spark plug wire with a piece of tape with the cylinder # written on it, so as not to mix up the wires. Remove each spark plug wire by firmly grasping the wire by the boot (do not pull on the wire) and twist it back and forth a few times while pulling slowly. It should pop off without a great deal of effort. If it is seized and it breaks, you will have to replace the wire, or at the very least replace the terminals (if you can get some). Use an air hose and blow around the base of each spark plug to dislodge any loose dirt that could fall into the cylinders (not absolutely necessary, but a good idea). Remove each spark plug with a spark plug socket and extension and ratchet (I forget which size socket, it's either 5/8 or 13/16). Check the gaps of each new spark plug (typically around 0.035 in). re-install each new spark plug by hand (do not cross-thread them) and once you have ensured that the plug is threaded in properly, tighten the plug until it seats, and then tighten an additional 1/16 of a turn. Repeat this for the remaining plugs. Re-install wires to the corresponding spark plugs. You're done!

The problems you are describing indicate to me that you likely need to replace the coil pack that runs from the spark plugs ,and the plug wires end up at it.It also may be the spark plug wires, get a water bottle and spray the wires after dark and if you get a light show from them then replace them,if not, replace the coil pack.

Where are the spark plugs located at in my 2004 Jeep Liberty?? Would like video or pics....

The plugs are loated under each coil pack for every cylinderca82c8a.gif 1. Using compressed air, blow out any dirt or contaminants from around top of spark plug.
2. Check condition of coil O-ring (2) and replace as necessary. To aid in coil installation, apply silicone to coil O-ring (2).
3. Position ignition coil (1) into cylinder head opening and push onto spark plug. Do this while guiding coil base over mounting stud.
4. Install coil mounting stud nut (2). Tighten to 8 N·m (70 in.lbs).
5. Connect electrical connector to coil by snapping into position.
6. If necessary, install throttle body air tube.

Check Engine Light P0302 Code

p0302 is a cylinder #2 misfire. when they swiched the coils did the misfire follow the coil or did it stay on cyl.#2. if the problem stayed with #2 they need to pull the cylinder head and check the valves with known good valves. have them install it into the cylinder head with valve lapping compound and run a pattern. if the cylinder head comes out with a good pattern replace the valves with the new pieces and reassemble the motor. if not the vehicle will need a new cylinder head
