Question about 1993 Volkswagen Golf

1 Answer

What is the radio code of VW Golf 1993? Please help me know. T.Y

I bought a VW Golf 1993 model last Saturday in Gilroy. However, the manual was ripped off and the radio code was not there anymore. There was a "SAFE" word in the radio screen. How can the radio be functioned and remove the word "SAFE"? Thanks. Your help is highly appreciated!

Your main vw dealer will give you the code or a good car radio shop will be able to recode it

Hello everybody, I bought I VW Golf the past few days and unfortunately it is impossible from me to find the code of its auto-radio. I bought it from a car dealer and as he got tons of cars he doesn't...

call the VW customer service and quote the vin number and serial number. If it is a original equipment fitment they will have the code on record from the factory.

My golf mk4 am/fm/mini-disc player comes on but can't tune to any station. Only displays FM 76.0, do I need a radio code? I bought it as used from Japan 8 months ago. Please, I need your advice!

IMPORTANT NOTE:
You must have the security anti-theft code for your VW radio from the car manufacturer, or from a Volkswagen dealer!

You can find the radio code at: http://www.radio-code.co.uk/

The sequence of programming for 2003 VW Golf radio is:
1. Push simultaneous "SCAN" and "RDS" keys until on the screen will appear "1000" displayed.
2. Release keys. No more push on "SCAN" and "RDS" keys because otherwise number "1000" will be considered as first safe code attempt.
For example: we have the security code "5079". Then:
3. By the no.# 1 key you will set up the first safe code digit. Push 5 times on the no.# 1 button. The "5" number will be setted.
4. By the no.# 2 key you will set up the second safe code digit. Push 10 times on the no.# 2 button. The "0" number will be setted.
5. By the no.# 3 key you will set up the third safe code digit. Push 7 times on the no.# 3 button. The "7" number will be setted.
6. By the no.# 4 key you will set up the four-th safe code digit. Push 9 times on the no.# 4 button. The "9" number will be setted.
7. Then push again simultaneous "SCAN" and "RDS" keys for confirm this safe code. On the screen will be displayed "SAFE" notice. Release keys! For few seconds a radio frequence will be displayed.
The radio is now ready for use!

The CD Player in my VW Golf 2002 modelis

Without knowing the model of radio fitted to your car I would make the following assumptions

The CD Player is Locked Out:

Either

Because the battery has been disconnected and the clearing sequence in your handbook was not followed correctly you may have to wait several hours between attempts to unlock it and you will need the original code at hand as a fail safe

Or

The CD player is from another VW car and the on-board code in the memory does not match that one.

Resume:

You need to look out the little book that came with the car and read up on clearing the code for that particular model.

Last resort is a VW Dealer who should provide assistance free of charge , according to the handbook

Re setting the radio on my VW Golf

heres what u do , switch radio on , safe appears in radio display , followed by 1000 approximately 3 seconds later , input the security code found on the radio card using the station preset buttons on the radio , Button 1 corresponds to the first number in the security code , 2 is the second and so on . press the applicable button repeatedly until the desired number appears in the display , ( press button 1 three times if the first number is 3 ), when the entire code has been input and appears on the display , press the right side of the seek button for longer than 2 seconds until an audible signal is heard , ,,, if you do not get this procedure correct , in 2 attempts , the radio will lock up for 1 hour before you can try again .. if this happens , leave the radio on for minimum 1 hour without touching it , after that time you may try again ..
