Need to remove door panel. How?

Door Panels - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

The many different design interiors make it impossible to list each fastener location. The trim panels that must be removed are held in place by screws and clips. These locations vary from model to model. After removal of all the fasteners that you are aware of, if the trim panel is still firmly attached, you probably missed a hidden fastener. If this happens, gently and carefully pry the area looking for the location that doesn't flex. The location that does flex is where you'll find the fastener(s) you missed. Screws and retainers are usually hidden. Handle trim, reflectors, light lenses and other plastic pieces usually cover the main retaining screws. Take great care with the plastic trim panels. Plastic trim panels are usually very hard plastic and extremely easy to crack. The following steps can be used to guide you through the removal and installation of the trim panels, but you may need to alter these steps to your specific needs.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Pull the inside door handle to the open position, unfasten the screw and remove the handle escutcheon.
  3. If equipped with manual locks, remove door inside locking rod knob.
  4. If equipped with manual windows, insert a suitable window regulator handle removal tool behind the handle. Disengage the retainer, then remove the handle.
  5. If equipped with power windows and locks, use a small flat-bladed prytool to carefully pry the switch plate up, then detach the power component electrical connectors.
  6. If equipped, remove the screws inserted through door armrest and pull handle assembly into door inner panel or armrest hanger support bracket.
  7. Lift the seat belt trim panel up and remove the hidden retaining screws.
  8. Remove the outside side view mirror trim plate retaining screw. Lift the panel up to disengage the retaining clip, then remove the trim panel from the door.
  9. On styles with courtesy lamps located in the lower area of the trim panel, disconnect the wiring harness at the lamp assembly.
  10. If equipped, use a suitable tool to pry the reflector plate from the side of the door panel.Remove bottom trim cover retaining screws, then remove the lower trim cover.
  11. Remove any necessary electrical connector CPA clips, then unplug the electrical connectors.
  12. On styles with integral armrests, remove the screws inserted through the pull cup into the armrest hanger support.
  13. Unfasten the door trim panel retaining screws. The locations of the screws will vary depending upon the year of model of vehicle. The screws are usually hidden, so be sure to look carefully to make sure you don't miss any. After all of the trim panel retaining screws are removed, slide a suitable trim panel removal tool between the door panel and door perimeter to carefully disengage all of the trim panel retaining buttons. Make sure to position the tool close to the fastener, or the trim panel may be damaged.
  14. Carefully lift the trim panel away from the door, checking to be sure all of the retaining buttons and screws and electrical connectors are unfastened.

To install:

Before installing the door trim panel, check that all trim retainers are securely installed to the panel and are not damaged. Replace damaged retainers as required.
  1. Connect electrical components where present.
  2. To install the door trim panel, pull door inside handle inward; then position the trim panel to the inner panel, inserting the door handle through the panel hole.
  3. Position the trim panel to the door inner panel so that the trim retainers are aligned with the attaching holes in the panel, and tap the retainers into the holes with a clean rubber mallet. Install all previously removed items.
  4. Install the remaining door panel components in the reverse order of removal.
  5. After installation, connect the negative battery cable, then check for proper attachment and operation of electric components, if so equipped.

Hope helps (remember rated and comment this).

How do you remove the power window motor on a 1990 325i BMW?

Hi you did not mention which side of power window and why you want to take it off. but base on my experience, if the window is inoperative the common problem is a faulty window regulator only and not necessary to replace the motor. Regarding how to take it off, you have to take off the door trim moulding, the one close to inner door opening handle. start to take it off from the edge opposite close to handle. then using # 20 Torx bit, remove two screws in there, then take off the side airbag badge to access one screw under that badge. then have a look for other screw around side pocket and remove side clips including the top side using plastic trim remover or plat screw.when all the side clips already loos, pull the trim upward and disconnet all the wire connection, door handle cable. then use a blade to remove carefully the sound insulator. then you can access the motor or regulator. use 10 and 8 mm socket and torx bit no 27 or 30 to dismantle the motor.
I hope it can help you.thanks

Electic window motor removal

There are 2 torx head screws on the inside trim piece where the door latches (right side) and one on the left and you will need to pry off the cougar logo on the handle and remove the screw. Now remove the two plastic covers off the lower, carpeted area of the inner door trim and remove the screws. I couldn't remove the left one so I ended pulling off with it attached which did not cause any harm for me. the trim then just 'pops' off the sides and bottom then you need to lift it up off clips on the top. Remove the insulating cover, which will probably just rip anyway. You will then see 3 large silver torx head screws which hold the motor on. I had to jostle the motor a very little to loosen it up after the years of being screwed on but it came of very easy. Good Luck!

there are 4 torx T-15 screws, one in the rear map pocket, one under the air bag logo plastic clip, one under the wood trim (pry the trim off carefully), and one holding the door handle assembly (also revealed when you remove the wood burl cover). Pick up a pry tool at autozone, about 5 bucks to pry the clips out without breaking
