Question about 1999 Ford Contour

1 Answer

Window Problem My drivers side window will not roll up. There is a small brownish metal box above the speaker in the door that makes a clicking noise when I try to use the master control button. It comes apart in the middle and has a rubber square seal inside with 4 prongs to connect the box. What is that box called? Also, weird thing is, this happened when it was cold and just sometimes it might try and go up..

I have the same problem and fixed it yesterday. It seems that you had uncovered your car door cover.I just opened the small brown box and reconnect the 4 prongs and closed the box.My car is 1997 Mondeo.

Driver side rear window goes down but not up

The window can go off track. When you remove the door card look just above the door speaker, there is a nut on a stud for adjusting the window track, there are welds that hold the track( a long metal strip) this is what the adjuster connects to.
I repaired mine by rigging tie strips to keep the metal strip from moving. I do own a small mig welder but was afarid to weld for fear of cracking the window, so far the strips are working fine. JimH

My driver side window wont roll up

First check the fuses for both electric windows if they are good. The fuse box one is on the engine compartment driver side look for long retangular black box and open the fuse cover the cover should designate what the fuses and relay is for the other is on the driver side under the dashboard just above your left foot look under you should see another fuse box.If both fuses are good, then your going to have to check the window regulator which is inside each door.Open the door panel and check window regulator morethan likely the regulator assembly need to be change. You might just need the motor. The whole assembly is quite expensive.

Sounds like your window is off track. You will have to take door panel off to get to it. Fairly simple to do once you remove the panel.

On my 2000 Mitsubishi eclipse, the driver side window wont roll up, and it can't be the motor, cause the passenger window will roll up, and when I try and roll up the driver side it'll make a noise like it...

It could still be the motor.. a small internal short in the motor will let it run but not under a heavier load like pushing the window up. If you can get to the window motor connector by removing the door panel and have a good volt meter you can back prob that connect with small paper clips as just and example. key on engine off, and run the window.. if you get a reading of 12V Then it's most likely an internal short of some kind in the window motor.
Just my thoughts.. Hope it's helpful

Passenger side window won't roll up using the driver's side switc

Before you replace anything, inspect the connector pins in both the driver's door switch and the passenger door switch. If you don't find any problem with these connector pins, replace the driver's door control switch.

Check to see if the "lockout" button on the driver side master switch is depressed. This button, when activated, kills all power to the other 3 windows.
