You say your motor will not crank, meaning it's not turning over at all? if that's the case your should hear a ''clicking'' noise when you try to start it idicating that your ''solinoid'' on the starter motor is defective. it pushes the bendix assembly witch pushes the starter gear into the flywheel of the engine making it ''crank'' over so it can run. that was my problem last year & it worked fine after that. this is for a 2.2 lt ecotec engine 2005. remove starter motor to check with 12 VLT battery to see if it kicks out or not. hope this helps.

WillNot start batt., good starter, good all fuzzes good

If the engine is not cranking over, it could be the clutch safety switch
(standard trans), Neutral safety switch (automatic) or ignition switch.

If the engine is cranking but not starting, it is not the starter, battery
or alternator. Check fuel supply, ignition and compression.

I have a 1998 Chevy Cavalier that I can not figure out why it won't start. The following list of parts are brand new: Battery, PCM, Park Neutral Safety Switch, Alternator, Ignition Switch, and finally...

Your car has a sealed transmission, in order to check it you have to go to the dealer or a transmission

shop, its not owner servicable. takes dextron vi, 4 speed 7.4 quarts, 3 speed 4quarts

And as far as the no start, are your plugs getting voltage, if not check your coil, if there is no spark

to your plugs the car will not fire up. good luck!

98 chevy cavalier 2.2 will not crank. It's not the starter or battery as lights, dinging chime, and fuel pump engage...I turn the key and silence.

It sounds like the solenoid isn't sending fire to the coil while cranking. When cranking the voltage comes to the coil from the starter to by pass the coil resistor. Once cranked it starts going through the resistor to keep excess voltage from frying the coil.
