Question about BMW 3 Series
I have a European edition 1990 BMW 320i convertible with 136,000 original kms on it. I need to know what alternator is for the vehicle (AMP etc. - like can I use the same as in the 325i?) also need to know the correct battery size. prev owner put a small battery in it, 12v and I do not think it is sufficient due to the lack of electrical power. Can someone please help me? I have been trying to find the information on the web, but cannot locate and BMW will not give me the information... say I have to bring it in and pay $137 an hour!
Sir, I could help you but the information I provide is free, If you want factory service manuals and procedures for a full year go to alldatadiy.com, and buy a subscription for 20.00 dollars, I use them all the time, well worth the price and will definitely be worth you while if you can follow instructions, I have been doing this for 30 years and this is a great value, if you want o understand and maintain your car according to factory service manuals and etc. I hope you check out my advice, it will pay for itself on your first repair.. Hope I have helped you. Good luck and God bless

Tips for a great answer:
Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities.
It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then
it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure
or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty
ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.
To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.
