New oil has a higher viscocity and will read higher than the old oil, especially right after change because the oil is not hot yet. also, was it a different weight and type than previous oil? Just a consideration. But, if the psi never changes or drops but stays at one reading, then yes, sender is a good place to ck. TH Mech. Tx

Oil pressure gauge reading zero

check the oil pressure first, it should read around 10 to 14 psi. If pressure is inside the range then your pressure sensor is bad. If lower or reads 0 psi your got a engine problem, further diagnosis needed. Good luck.

Oil gauge goes to 80psi while I'm driving 70mph on highway, drops when I slow down. Why?

They are designed to change as the motor changes speed. If you have 80 lbs. of oil pressure than you have very good oil pressure in your engine. If it gets higher than 80, I would talk to service dept. at your local dealer.

Hello again, I had the oil changed this past Saturday drove for 700 miles and oil pressure stayed the the engine light has come on and the computer is showing that it still needs to be...

If the check engine light is on (and not flashing) simply take it to one of the various auto parts chain stores that offer free scanning. That will tell you why the light is on and might even lead to a repair.
As for oil pressure gauge. It could be a bad sending unit, bad gauge itself, or sometimes a broken wire. A competent mechanic will have a mechanical oil pressure gauge to verify what the real reading is.
The check engine light and oil pressure gauge reading may or may not be related.

Oil gauge reads 80psi what is the problem

Sounds like a faulty sending unit. Remove transducer (sending unit) and test pressure with external gauge. Hope this helps.

Changed oil in my jeep grand cherokee 1999 v6,and noticed the oil pressure gage is now setting at 80psi,and the filter is correct.

Not sure about your car, but alot of times the oil gauge sending unit is kinda close to the oil filter, and maybe during the oil change the wire connection was removed or damaged. Turn the key on and engine off ,and if the gauge reads 80psi then the sneding unit might be the problem
