This is complicated and depends on the radio control head module in the car. Once you have figured out the option level for this (e.g. UW7 - check the options label in the car), you can check with an aftermarket audio dealer which ones may work, and where they could be installed.
Afternoon, the stereo has a fuse, which has blown. They are usually found on the positive side of the wire for the main power to stereo , if not that one, it is the fuse inside it. The ones I have fixed are very tiny, not standard size. Next time, disconnect the battery or put tape over the ends of the wires. good luck. You are not the first to do this and you certainly will not be the last so do not feel too bad. (Australia)
The disc mechanism is bad and the easiest way to fix it is to replace the cd player boxed unit.
I had a similar problem on a 1990 Cadillac Deville, where I got a cd player that had a bad mechanism, had it replaced at Doctor Don's in Texas (an AC Delco expert for Corvettes), and after that it worked fine. He put an entire new mechanism in that was not very reliable from the factory, he told me.
Try to get one from a salvage yard, that works, in your case.
It's just an error message. It stands for Error 20. There is no way to fix the problem. It only reads cd's that it wants. But if it does play a cd, then suddenly stops, and says E20 and spits the cd out, it's most likely because the cd player got too hot. My car does that all the time. And it won't play a lot of burned cd's. Hope this helped.
