Question about 1997 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup

Truck stopped at a stop sign. Engine died

Truck has only 60000 miles.   The fuel filter has been changed. The code scanner shows no errors. The engine turns over rough and not smooth like used to when it worked properly.  There was no decernable indication the engine died, gave the gas at a stop sign and didn't move. The engine does not try to fire at all like it is trying to start. 100% dead. Have a new fuel pump but not replaced yet.  The old pump can be heard upon ignition on and stops when pressure reached. Have not yet chedked spark.

    Hi,
Didn't try looking at spark yet.  Took a shortcut.
Put Carburetor cleaner directly in Throttle body and did not get any fire at all.

Check for spark at EACH plug with an in line spark tester, but don't rule rule out a fuel pressure/delivery issue. That needs to be confirmed as well

Ok so I changed out the throttle position sensor and its made NO difference~my truck is still Idling rough and dieing need some help here please~~

I guess I will start with asking why you changed the crank sensor and the TPS ?
Usually when the engine is stalling at stop signs the problem is a dirty throttle body or a problem with the idle air control valve.
If the check engine light is on it should have a code unless the PCM is failing. I would try another scanner next to make sure the computer does not have any trouble codes.

Don't stop at red lights and stop signs...

How many miles are on the engine? When was your last tune up? If it's been a while then I would start by changing the fuel filter, air filter, pcv valve, oil change, etc.

I was driving into town, stopped at the stop sign at the end of my street, and when I hit the gas off the stop sign, the truck died. After 10 minutes or so of trying to start the truck, it fired up. Every...

It still could be the fuel pump. Sometimes they don't just quit outright. Go to the vehicle. Reach through the open driver's side window. Turn the key forward to the run position. Listen toward the rear of the vehicle for the fuel pump to prime. It should sound like a humming noise that should last a couple seconds and stop. If you don't hear anything it's your fuel pump.

Engine sputtered and died, starts back up and idles, as soon as put into gear and drove a few feet sputters and dies again. ??? Mechanic is saying cataliytic converter but car only has 60000 miles

That sounds more like lack of fuel pressure due to worn pump, plugged fuel filter, or defective fuel pressure regulator. The engine computer should be read with a rented scanner to determine the area of the trouble. Don't just replace parts until it runs--usually, a very expensive repair process. If the engine uses a rubber timing belt to the cams, the mileage is about right to change it (them) too (as a precaution). Hope this helps!

Truck is running rough no power after 50 miles. 02 rich and lean error codes, ignition short error code. After checking codes not clearing them re-ran diagnostic and gives code 111 all conditions normal...

Yes, computer COULD be bad... but it sounds to me like your fuel filter is clogged.
After pulling on it for some time, it is unable to provide adequate fuel to the engine - so the engine runs lean.... and if you step on the gas hard, the engine should shudder...and may even die from excessive fuel starvation.

Not sure about the ignition short code... maybe you caused that via troubleshooting.
Cheap, external fuel filter change out every 50K miles...first... then go from there....

Replace the fuel pump relay. And if your truck has dual tanks there's three fuel pumps, one in each tank and another secondary fuel pump.

The injectors are stopped up. Start simple. Use a fuel additive in the tank that is designed to break up this buildup. If the problem still persists then you may need to pull the injectors to clean the screens manually. Hope this helps. Good luck.
