Question about 1997 Ford Thunderbird LX
Check engine light is on, was checked at advance auto, codes indicated pre and post cad oxygen sensors also one more code undefined so far.
I was told to tighten all the intake manifold bolts and replace 4 oxygen
sensors. can I replace the oxy sensors myself ? I can have the codes cleared at advance auto.
Yes, you can replace them yourself, it's not easy but you will save yourself so much money if you just take the time. Buy a book from your parts store on how to fix your specific vehicle, some wire cutters/stripper and a set of Oxygen sensor sockets. Before doing the work remove the negative battery cable, after your done simply reconnect the battery cable and your codes should automatically remove themselves if you have solved the problem. Good luck!
