Those had a recall and it could be replaced under warranty but if not it costs a good bit to get done the mileage probably still adds up but the speed is incorrect. My cousin just bought a gps unit for around $100 and uses it to tell how fast he is going his cruise still works just not the needle telling the speed. The repair on the instrument is around $500 last I heard.

95 lincoln cont. occassional crank fast ,but no start ,intermittent ,later will instantly start as should

I think what you have going on here is a failing electric fuel pump, this is what they do when they are worn out, it is a rotary pump and the rotor sticks due to worn bearings. To confirm this get a can of spray starting fluid from any auto parts store, next time it won't start spray it into the air intake hose to the engine, if it fires right up you have a bad pump. The fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank, remember to also replace the fuel filter when the pump is replaced. Also check the connector to the fuel pump cutoff safety switch for signs of melting, replace the switch and connector as needed, this is caused by a defective fuel pump drawing excessive current.

Speedodometer 1992 toyota not working

The sensor is usually located at the passenger side axel near the wheel drum. It works by sending a signal to the PCM at the exact velocity. I think it is the sensor.

Before you remove the dash.Try and eliminate if its a fuse.
Fuses are either inside the car hidden in the dash ,and in the main engine compartment.

Track your fuses with your manual ,if blown there should be spares in the fuse box itself.

I thought this year of Santa Fe had a 100k Warranty? If so, take it to the dealer and get it fixed. Even if it's not under warranty, take it and get it fixed! This is dangerous to use with the cruise control!! Do not use the Cruise Control until you get this fixed. It sounds like a bad speedomoter sensor, and that is confusing the Cruise Control. Either your speedometer is going to stop working altogether, or your going to RAM someone from behind going at a DANGEROUS rate of speed. Take it and get it fixed, and do not use the Cruise Control until it is fixed.

Speedodometer

The speedo is electronic, only 2 things will cause this, the vehicle speed sensor, the other is the speedo head itself, this assumes you have checked the fuses, the most likely problem is the speedo itself.
