Oil and filter every 3000 miles. Use a Castrol GTX oil and purolator filters only.

What is the best motor oil and oil filter to use on my 04 beetle turbo?

I would use a Phram oil filter, but the oil you chose is up to you. Personally, I use Chevron RPM oil and have five vehicles and two of them have more than 200,000 miles on them.

My daughter went with Quacker State and we had to replace her engine after 72,000.

The secret is not which oil filter or what oil. Just checking making sure you don't get low and that you replace it every 3,000 miles.

What type of oil do u use

Hi, Use a multiviscosity...10-30w works in all temps well. The lower the number the thinner the oil, which can work better in cold climate, and on fuel economy. If you live in a very hot area, a thicker oil can be used for better protection.
I would also reccommend a synthetic, any brand, over standard oil. It will give you much better protection with less sludge. Always change you oil @ 3,000 miles, unless you are using the extended life synthetic. Even so, check periodically to see if it is still clean after 3,000 miles. Dirty oil will tear your engine down.
An oil change is a job every car owner can do themselves. This way you can get the quality filter and oil your car deserves. The oil and filter can often be recycled at the same place you get your supplies.
The oil pick up tubes in many VWs are small. This tube has a screen on it which can get clogged with sludge and cause a loss in oil pressure.

How much oil is required when changing the oil and filter in a 1998 VW passat sedan 1.8L turbo? I've also heard that there is a oil slugde problem with those engines, are there any additives or solutions...

1998 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT 1.8L 4-cyl Engine Code AEB/AWM Turbo
Models with 1.8L Engine codes AEB, ATW, AUG, AWM only
use engine oil that is formulated to meet
Volkswagen oil standard VW 502.00
(with viscosity of SAE 5W-40, 5W-30 or 0W-40).

CAPACITIES: Engine, with filter..........3.5 liter To prevent overfilling during oil changes, add 0.5 liter
(0.5 quart) less than capacity shown, start engine, let run
until engine operating temperature is approx. 60 °C (140 °F)
, switch engine off, wait 3 minutes, check dipstick,
fill to full mark as indicated on dipstick (may be more or
less than 0.5 liter (0.5 quart) depending on model).

As for the sludge question, I add Marvel Mystery Oil around 600 miles before i do my oil change. This will clean out the oil pick up screen and oil journals through out the engine, I do this on every oil change and i have over 356,000 miles on my engine. Oil and filter changed every 3,000 miles intervals. Good luck and hope this helps.

How often should I change the oil in my 2007 New Beetle

Hi:
The standard rule of thumb is 3000 miles, but you can adjust that a bit longer if you don't drive hard or drive thru dirty conditions.

Whats the best oil for sebring 2.7 rebuilt motor

Best oil you can use would be any synthetic oil 5W-30. But if your like me and most mechanic, any good 5W-30 brand of oil and filter will do as long as you do the regular service intervals. Every 3,000 miles.
Your going to need 4.7 liters of oil to fill the engine with a oil filter changed. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to answer anymore questions you may have.

No problem, just question on oil change,

I would recommend that you change your oil every 3,000 mile or 3 months which ever come first. This just help you keep a cleaner engine and keeps oil at Peak performance and provide excellent protection against sludge which developes with lack of oil change. Once a year seems too long for an oil change. However between oil changes you can add oil if needed. Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA
