Question about 2006 Saturn L300

Electrical problems The interior lights in my 2006 Saturn L300 do not turn on and the trunk light shows my trunk always being open. why? (I'm quite sure this is not a fuse problem. I've taken each of the fuses out and looked at each one to see if any were blown and found none.)

Will my car start with a good ECM and a bad BCM? Changed motors and replaced all electrical parts to original harness in my car. Will start and run.....idles funny but run. There's no communication at the port under steering wheel. Took to GM where they supposably did a bunch of testing that we already did....stated we needed a BCM which I thought was false but got one to prove it and the new one won't start the car and now they have it to the point it won't start at all. Is my BCM bad?

It's a "BCM" issue. Body control module. think of a "BCM" as a computer for the interior electrical aspects of the car. If you have the proper scan tool (Tech II) and the skill scan the "BCM" for error codes. Post the codes and I'll tell you how to fix it. If you don't have a scan tool or the skill take the car to a dealer or qualified mechanic.

Have you checked BCM2 fuse in engine compartment? I just had the exact same symptoms, and it turns out it was a short in the cargo light inside the trunk causing the fuse to blow each time. The broken lamp cover was allowing the metal leads to the bulb to come in contact with the metal of the trunk, thereby shorting the circuit.

I do have the proper scan tool, Tech II; however, it indicates that it does not connect. I also took it to autzone and their scan tool also said there was no connection.

I have checked all fuses by sight and an ohm meter both under the hood and the inside side panel.

If the BCM is faulty, does it have to go to the dealer to get fixed, I have heard that they are the only ones with the software to reprogram the BCM?

The electrical door locks do not work at the door handle; however, some of them work with the key lock.

I thought that there may be a connector problem, but I was not able to disconnect the connectors from what I think is the BCM to check and cleam them.

Where is the fuse/s for the map lights and dome lights

ANSWER by patrick mannion on June 01, 2010
Looking at a wiring diagram the dome light and rear reading lights operate through the body control module. Check the BCM 2 fuse, BCM 1 fuse and BCM cluster fuse they may all be in the circuit. These fuses are in the engine compartment fuse box.

Show how to replace power outlet fuse for 2006 Toyota Camry

Interior Fuse Box Location 2002 2006 Toyota Camry 2006 Toyota Camry LE 2...

The video above shows how to replace blown fuses in the interior fuse box of your 2006 Toyota Camry in addition to the fuse panel diagram location. Electrical components such as your map light, radio, heated seats, high beams, power windows all have fuses and if they suddenly stop working, chances are you have a fuse that has blown out. If your Camry is experiencing electrical problems, you should always check the fuses first, because they are relatively easy to check and cheap to change. Some Toyotas have multiple interior fuse boxes including in the trunk - the video above will show you where the interior fuse box of your 2006 Camry is located. If your Camry has many options like a sunroof, navigation, heated seats, etc, the more fuses it has. Some components may have multiple fuses, so make sure you check all of the fuses that are linked to the component in question.
If you need to replace a blown fuse in your Camry, make sure you replace it with one that has the same amperage as the blown fuse. If checking and replacing the fuse for the component in question doesn't work, we recommend seeking assistance from a trusted professional mechanic. They should be able to figure out if the component needs to be replaced or if there is a short or some other problem with your Camry.

Good Luck

Trunk light and dash light always on

I would have to agree it's an electrical problem. It might simply be a defective trunk lid latch switch. Here's the wiring diagram:

Car stopped running, engine light on the dash was on about 200 mi

there is no way to know for sure without some troubleshooting and since your engine light is lit which im assuming is the check engine light you can have someone with an obd scanner pull the codes and go from there that is pretty much your only option at this point
