Look for 2 hoses approx. 1"-1 1/2" in diameter going in to firewall behind the engine slightly to right of center. When your engine is warmed up & heater is on, feel them carefully, and see if both are hot , or only one is. You say for sure it needs to be replaced, why, is it leaking?

Inside, it should be just off center of dash toward driver side, under dash.

No heat 98 ford f150

verify heat is in normal range using dash gauge. if its normal then good. if it is below normal, you may have a sticking open thermostat not allowing heat to build up enough for "hot" heat. but usually luke warm heat will be this issue.

If everything is fine with gauge heat, check the hoses going to your heater core with your hands. they BOTH should be hot. If one is hot and another is warm then you have heater core issues. If both are HOT then you may want to check your temp controls. either temp control may not be working or the door that changes temp may be stuck in the cold position... there are many things, but checking the heater core hoses are most likely going to reveal bad heater core.

You will need wiring diagrams and volt meter to diagnose anything other than touching hoses and looking at gauge.

Thermostat

hello,
first thing to do is open the radiator cap (when cold) if you have one, other wise look in the recovery bottle and make sure that it is half full of coolant. if full, start the engine and let the engine warm up to normal temp the heater on and on max temp and max fan control. watch the temp gauge and make sure the temp goes to the normal operating area and does not overheat the engine. if temp is ok and you have heat that is hot as normal then everything is ok.if no heat and temp is to high then thermostat maybe bad? if engine temp is ok and no heat then you may have blockage in the heater core and or hoses

Heat not working

I would change the sending unit for the temp gauge make sure that is full of coolant take the radiator cap start it fill coolant until the the thermostat opend to be sure it did. Then make the coolant is circulating and make sure it is full. The heater core could also be plugged

Dodge grand Caravan 1995 has been acting up with erratic heating since last month.

Could possibly need a new thermostat, the thermostat opens and closes depending on the heat of the coolant. maybe also check your heating core. as well as the quality of you coolant.

what motor do you have? have you change the thermostat lately? check the 2 hose to the heater core ,and see if they are hot. if only one is hot then you have a clogged heter core

2004 chevy blazer with little or no heat in the cab. Could it be the thermostat?

It's a definite possibility. Make sure your coolant level is good. Is the engine temperature coming up on your temperature gauge? If the engine temp is low and there is no heat in the cab, it's most likely a thermostat stuck open. If your engine temperature is good, but no heat in the cab, then it's probably something else like a plugged heater core, kinked hose to the heater core, or even your heat selector switch not working properly.

Why my heater in 2000 plymouth breeze only gives a little heat? Could it be a hose ? I know it's not the thermostat, the blowers ar working. I am wonding if theres some hoses that could be leaking?I don't...

it could be the cold air blend door or the thermostat is the engine temp up to the middle of the gauge or close to it if so then thermostat is ok if not then go ahead and replace it.

No heat

Hey jacob, there are a number of things that can be wrong, let's start w/ easy cheap ones...1st, the easiest one is low coolant. If the level is low, it won't circulate thru the heater core, so no heat. 2nd thermostat stuck open. If this happens, the engine won't reach peak operating temp, and again, no heat. Pretty easy to check, is your car running cold (or low normal range?) If the temp gauge shows it's warming up in 5 - 10 minutes of driving, and is in normal range, then it probably isn't the thermostat. 3rd dash control that you use to select heat setting is either vacuum controlled (no vacuum @ switch possibly) or thermostatically controlled (faulty control), both of these could result in no flow of coolant to heater core, 4th a plugged up heater core (rust and corrosion) preventing coolant from flowing thru heater core. Let me know how u make out.
