Thank you so much! I don't know where to find a blower motor now though? are you sure I will need one? I had to get the resistor on special order from United Auto Parts.

My heater blower only works on high in my 1999 status, how do I replace it?

    1) my blower motor only works on highest setting.2) my car started running very roughly today, check engine flashes and then stays lit for a while, then it will start flashing again. took it to advance for a code reading and it showed cylinder 3 misfiring.

Hi - I have the same problem with blower only working on setting #4 - unfortunately I can't fix this myself and will be taking it to the dealer to be fixed.....what can I expect to pay? How much would you expect on the part and labor? Ball-park guesstimates are appreciated, I really don't know what to expect. Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi my name is Allen!

The blower motor resister is located on the passenger side under the dash, it's mounted on the bottom of the A/C Housing.

If you bought the resister from the dealership you will need to make the hole larger for the new style resister so it will fit.

You should also replace the blower motor, because the resistance built up inside the motor is what damages the resister.

I'm so glad I could help, as far as needing the blower motor I would say yes, but I have seen some go out without replacing the motor and they were OK, but the biggest majority that went out without replacing the motor, blew the resister again.

It's your call, it may be Ok or it maynot, the worst that can happen is you have to buy another resister and replace the motor at the same time.

If you need any more help contact me at FixYa! Bye Now

Just replaced this part on my moms car today. the blower motor resistors located underneath the glovebox on the sedan model. remove the panel just past underneath the glovebox. then the resistors are drilled into the bottom of the firewall/dash. don't go out and replace the blower motor right away. a lot of blower motor resistors burn out because of the part being corroded and other reasons. don't fix something that still works lol

Listen to Ahill_1. My dodge Caravan went through 4 resisters before someone informed me the Blower motor needed replaced. The first couple of resisters lasted 5-6 months. The last couple only lasted a few weeks. After replacing the blower and resister over a year ago, I've had no more problems.

A Blower motor fuse could be the problem. Check your owners manual for the fuse box panel location...also the fuse purpose will be illustrated in the manual...hope this helps. As it is just a fuse replacement to fix it...still keep an eye on the function...if it blows the fuse again, you will need an electrical check for a short....Any other info would be helpful.

hi i;m mike my wife has a 2000 stratus es and the blower motor rersistor used to blow all the so i got smart and instead of blowing 25.00 each time to replace it i took one of the resistors apart and went to radio shack and bought a higher temp resistor and put it back together in 10 minutes and now it's not blown in a year so far knock on wood .the new resistor since i bought 2 for 3.00 at radioshack they come in differant temperatures just like thermostats so i bought the highest temp resistor and no more problem and since i bought like 4 temperature control units every 6 months i experimented by putting new resistor and now i have 5 spares on the shelf .
