The resistor in my 2000 is located inside the passenger side of the car under the dash. Probably the same place for yours. There are two screws that hold it on. Its right under the glove compartment box. take out the screws, pull the wiring off, remove resistor, install new resistor. Plug in wires. Install screws.

Here's a link to what your blower motor resistor look's like,it's next to the blower motor,2 screws hold it on.Blower Motor location can change from year to year. It can change with the trim level of the vehicle. A vehicle that has front and rear climate controls may be configured differently than a vehicle that has front controls only. The following are two different repair procedures. One is given because the blower motor is located and accessed in the engine compartment, the other is given because the blower motor is mounted inside the vehicle. http://www.autozone.com/cooling-heating-and-climate-control/blower-motor-resistor/duralast-blower-motor-resistor/cadillac/deville/1990/8-cylinders-3-4-5l-fi/860043_0_0 Here's a link to your blower motor. Where is blower resistor located

The blower resistor is generally located in the vicinity of the blower motor. On your vehicle access to the blower motor can be made be removing the panel under the passenger side of the dash. The blower motor resistor will be just to the drivers side of the blower motor.

If your interested I wrote up an article on blower motor diagnosis.

I am in need of an Illustration of The fan motor resistor ! Please help

Providing an illustration is VERY difficult because you did not mention the YEAR or MODEL of your vehicle. On most GM vehicles, they are located in the heater-A/C housing near the blower motor.

Hi!!
Check under dash, passenger side, if necessary, remove cover to access Blower Housing Assy., the harness has two terminals, one for the Blower Motor and one for the Blower Motor RESISTOR which is fastened by two 7 or 8 mm. screws to the Housing.
Here is a picture of the Blower Housing Assy. showing the Resistor.

I cannot find the resistor for the blower motor on my 1997 chevy 1500 2 w d 4.3 I have looked under the dash all around the inside fire wall that i can see. I located the relay but some parts store...

First locate blower motor. The resistor is in the duct that the blower motor blows through. The resistor is actually cooled off by the blower motor. Usually it is within a foot of the blower motor & is accesible the same way that the blower motor is mounted. It may help for you to see the replacement part. All you will see next to motor is the end the wire plugs into & how it screws into duct.

Need to replace ac/heater fan resistor I am not sure of the location does anyone know? Thank You

The Blower Motor Resistor is located on the passenger side firewall, not far from your A/C's H-Valve (or expansion valve), going inside of the vehicle. The blower motor resistor has a 4 or 5 way black connector plugged into it and this is the only visible portion of the Resistor you will see. Remove the wiring connector and remove the 2 or 3 screws with an 8 mm or 5/16" socket (8 mm and 5/16" are the same). Once the screws or fasteners are removed, just pull the blower motor resistor out of the firewall and if you look at it, it will have various coils of wire on it, sometimes it will show burnt coils, but you can always check the various coils with an Ohm-meter.

Aside from that, install the new Blower Motor Resistor and Voilà! Your inside Blower Motor should work just fine.

A brief note here, if your fan doesn't work when the fan switch is on High, then it's not the Blower Motor Resistor, but possibly the Blower Motor itself. Should this occur, please get back to me insofar as how to replace the blower motor and why the blower motor's wires have to be twisted...even with the new blower motor fan.

Best of Luck,

The blower motor resistor is out on my 2004 dodge stratus.

Hi my name is Allen!

The blower motor resister is located on the passenger side under the dash, it's mounted on the bottom of the A/C Housing.

If you bought the resister from the dealership you will need to make the hole larger for the new style resister so it will fit.

You should also replace the blower motor, because the resistance built up inside the motor is what damages the resister.

My blower is not working

Description and Operation Notes The heater blower motor switch resistor has the following features:
  • The assembly is located in the engine compartment on the evaporator housing toward the center of the vehicle.
  • Three resistor elements are mounted on the resistor board to provide four blower motor speeds.
  • Depending on the heater blower motor switch position, series resistance is added or bypassed in the A/C blower motor circuit to decrease or increase A/C blower motor speed.
  • An overheating protective device (thermal limiter) will open the resistor coil when the temperature reaches 121°C (250°F) interrupting the blower motor operation in all speeds except HI.
  • The thermal limiter cannot be reset and is not serviceable
