For tropical countries, motor oils with SAE 20W50 viscosity is commonly used. For cold countries, SAE 10W30 viscosity oils are used. You may also use oil of SAE 15W40.

Does a 2002 Suzuki Vitara JLX 4wd automatic 2.0 engine have a vacuum modulator/transmission modulator valve?

4wd automatic 2.0 engine j20 have a vacuum modulator/transmission modulator valve?only the 3speed TH180 hydramatic had that. back in 1990 or older
the 4speed is electronically shifted box. and has no such thing
THE (4sp) ONLY HAS the TV cable, that delays shifts
why not post a real problem""and not hunts for things that do not exist.
the 3speed box rear end of box is vacuum hose.,if you'd look there is no vacuum there at all ending the silly hunt
if you ask for help on the internet you will get half lies;
that is because they are dead wrong. (guessing like kids)
your VIN tells me what transmission is there.
4speed see OD button, see sports mode button BINGO for 4speed .
the TV CABLES LOVE RUST OUT, 20 YEARS SURE.
AND WHEN THEY RUST OUT EXTENDED ALL GEARS 2 UP
ARE DELAYED OR MISSING,
TV IS CALLED PASSING GEAR OR CALLED DETENT CABLE
BUT DOES DELAY SHIFTS FOR NORMAL REASONS
THE PCM COMPUTES LOAD, AND SENDS LOAD DATA TO THE TCM
AND TCM USES LOAD TO NEVER NEED VACUUM MODULATORS EVER VERY AGAIN , EVEN TODAY./

Suzuki jlx won't shift when cold where do I find shift solenoid

automatic? trans? a/t
no year car (wow)! not IS A CHALLENGE!
no name car what is jlx?.
a vitara or sidekick both have JLX bodys.
check levels by the book. ATF oil.?
if car is 1992 and newer those cars had 2 a/t transmission choices
3sp pure hydramatic. Th180 3L30 with TCC lockup solenoid
4sp electronic shift trans. that has shift solenoids. 03-72LE

what does wont shift mean?
up or down shift.?
no up shift, or means its stuck in 1st gear
try to add full symptoms, as a/t are complex devices.

here is a page that covers all on car check both

levels
stall test
line pressure test
new filter?
solenoids tests, up to 4 checks

they are inside the box on 99.9% all cars
drop pan see VB bingo the VB they are.
http://www.fixkick.com/slush-pump.html

Der' 4 speed. solenoids for sure.

Jimny suzuki not engaging, seems neutral always. What seems to be the problem?

welcome to usa forum, we dont have Jimny here.
but car is kind simular to a vitara.
no year stated, so that makes real accurate answers impossible.
no transmission stated. or engine size

is it a stick or auto trans?
is car 2wd or 4wd?

is the lever stuck in nutural.?
or is the lever working right but the transmission fails in all gears and reverse.
mine has stick and 5 speeds, and reverse so has 6 gears to try.
If an automatic? trans. check the levels. per the operators guide do not guess.
and change its filter, if never done.
if automatic, make sure the lever moves its cable and the other end of cable is still attached to the trans lever. on the box.
they both move same amount, (cable drive does that)
if not the cable is bad, or bits there.

Is there a timing belt and performance difference on the 1.6L 16V engine type ? i was told that there's something to do with E/I position? sidekick/vitara 1994 lwb 4 doors if it matters.

no, the E and marks are for 2 engines.
E mark for G16B (16valve MPI engine)
I and E marke are for the twin cam engine, (see link for deeper facts)
see?
if you use the wrong marks, the engine will not run
and compression falls by 1/2 from 180 psi to 90 or less.

the G16A is different 8v head, yours is the 95HP, 16valve head.

covers all ways to do it right and wrong.

Hi On driving a Suzuki Vitara JLX 96 P Reg

Sounds like a clutch problem to me.
So, with the engine off, can you select all gears? If yes, your gearbox is probably OK.
And now with the engine idling, can you select any gears with out crunching? If this is difficult, then try this next test in an area where movement forward or backwards won't be a problem.
With the engine OFF, foot ON the clutch, the handbrake OFF, and in 1st gear, start the car. BE READY TO TURN IT OFF.
If the car moved forward as you cranked the engine, then your clutch is not adjusted properly or has worn out. That is more-than-likely the smell you got before - burnt clutch disc from it slipping.
You can drive it, but every time you want to start off, you'll have to turn the engine off, select 1st then start the engine. Accelerate slowly, making sure the revs don't rise faster that you're speeding up, and change gear by judging engine revs between gears.
Don't keep driving it as it is, as you WILL have gearbox problems if you don't fix the clutch.

How do i change transmission fluid on a Suzuki 1990 Vitara JLX? Eg cannot find drainage plug under car?

AUTOMATIC TRANS DRAIN PLUGS HAVE NOT BEEN USED FOR YEARS, LAST ONE WERE IN THE 60'S, U MUST DROP THE PAN OFF TO CHANGE THE FLUID, A VERY MESSY JOB, I USE AN OLD PLASTIC GARBAGE LID WITH HOLES DRILLED IN THE CENTER TO CTACH THE FLUID. WHEN U REFILL ADD LESS THAN U TAKE OUT AND GET THE TRANS HOT BEFORE U TOP IT OFF, IF U OVERFILL THE TRANS U CAN DAMAGE IT,
