1996sls stalling 1996 cadillac sls. Oil light flashes and then car stalls. I check oil is full.

Check your switch first..then wiring going to fuse panel on both under the dash and under the hood.

Also check the oil level.. some cars will shut down if low on oil.

due to the oil pump connection to engine crankshaft.

stalls.: can be caused by 50 things, or just 4 in physics.
the EGR valve (if you have one, no engine stated)
can stick open and stall any engine, and in fact LOVES to. clean it.
1: list 12vdc to EFI. (spark and fuel brain) dash lights dim?
2: lost compression hot, ? compression tests.
3: lost spark, do spark tests. and timing, checks.
4: bad fueling, too much if floods, and misfires and stalls.
too little fuel, it starves and dies.

we do the tests. avoiding those 50 guesses....
each tests are simple and the tools dirt cheap .

bring back to mechanic you definitely have some sort of oil pump or internal engine problem

Replace the oil filter as it is clogged very cheap fix. I hope this helps.

if oil level is ok, your oil PRESSURE is dangerously low.
Either the wrong oil was used, or your oil pump is going bad.

Ill bet on wrong oil since you just had it changed,

oil cap , that is moisture, all cars do that driven short distances.
due to never reaching full temperature to drive out that moisture.
(or the PCV valve is clogged, ) there if which causes stalls.
its a stall plain and simplle.
engine that stall, go to to zero RPM
engines that stall , most warning lamps turn tune on ,just like it does key on first thing in the morning. its called lamp self test
and is covered in the operators, guide, its ok this must be your first stall ever.
Get a new PCV, and get fresh oil into the engine yours is too old.
Also get a full tuneup, ever do one this DECADE?

Get the car fixed, serviced, or a full tuneup,
spark parts, filters, oil, like what we all do.. to keep it running like new,. and last longer.
the PCV valve is also a standard tune up part, if found to be
1; clogged, 2, not rattling when shook. (its just a check valve)
also that valve clogged can cause oil leaks due to excessive
crankcase pressures. (due to the vent now running backwards an clogging them)


here are some causes of stalls.
ask us blind folks why your car stalls is really impossible.
but seem everyone does, endlessly.

stalls are cause by gross MISFIRE.
(or loss of 12vdc battery power, but that is not your case)

Probably not. Make sure you have a clean oil filter and check the oil level. Also, make sure the oil filler cap is secured.

It sounds like it may be time for a new fuel filter, try replacing the fuel filter first. The filter has a life of 30,000 miles or one year, if it has not been changed, good chance that it's the fuel filter. Take not that a dirty fuel filter will make your fuel pump run hotter and will shorten the life of the fuel pump which is the more costly repair of the two. What engine code(s) are you getiing? Try cycling key to, on ,off, on, off, on & leave on. (not start)
now count flashes from check engine light. will be flashes, pause ,flashes for 2 digit #'s. For example: 2 flashes , pause, 2 more is code 22.
3 flashes,pause, 3 more, is code 33. Write them down & get back to us. By the way when you get 55, thats end of message.
