I'm sure you already pulled the wheel, caliper, disc brake, and wheel hub.
So now all you have to do is pull on the drive shaft for the driver side, it's not hard as long as you pull it straight.
As for the passenger side, it is actually in 2 parts, there is a bracket/bearing assembly towards the middle of the drive shaft, if you take all 3 bolts out of the bracket you could pull both shafts at the same time using a small pry bar between the transmission and drive shaft and having an assistant pull the drive shaft out.

Hope this helps

How to change cam shaft sensor on 1998 saturn sl1

There is not a cam sensor on the 1.9 sohc or dohc engine. The ignition module looks at the collapsing magnetic field of the ignition coil to determine cam reference.

Did you mean crank sensor?

Are you coming up with a code for the cam sensor?

If so the fix is usually to remove the coils and ignition module from the transmission. Clean the area they mount to with a scotchbrite pad until all the corrosion is removed. Reinstall the ignition module and coils using new bolts available from saturn/GM. Clear the code.

In some cases the ignition module or the coil or the ignition wires can also cause this code if they are bad.

Hi :) I have a 1997 SW1 wagon same front end have replaced parts over the years since new and I'am still driving it that noise is coming from the CV axle to replace it you jack up the car and set on jack stands safely remove the bolt holding lower ball joint in place and seperate the two parts, Undo the large nut on the outside of the wheel hub and push the stud out of the bearing the take a large srewdriver or pry bar and pry the other end of the axle out of the center shaft support housing that goes to the transmission and reverse process to repace making sure the inner CV shaft is all the way seated into the center shaft support.

1998 Saturn SL idler pulley broke off and bolt is stuck in engine

The idler pully can be removed without removing the engine. I have replaced mine in my 97 SL2. As to the bolt breaking off, that is strange. I assume that if the bolt broke off, then the idler pully also fell off. If I remember, the space is somewhat limited, so getting a removal tool in there could be very difficult, especially if the bolt is flush with the mounting hole. That doesn't sound like a fun project. If bolt protrudes, maybe you can get some vise-grips on it and turn it out.
