Car stalls when driving and doesn't restart right away

While driving my car stalls but restarts after a couple of tries. the starter seems fine but the fuel doesn't seem to be getting there. the car may run fine for a day and then stall 2 or 3 times within a half hour.

I am still experiencing this problem. If I pull over and turn my key to the off position and then turn it to the on position (without starting the car) and wait until all of the lights and radio come on; it seems to reset itself and run fine. I think it may be something electrical. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Fuel filter changed recently? If it just started this & you filled up somewhere you don't normally fill up, then I'd try some "heet" additive or similar to remove moisture from gas tank, just in case that's the problem.$5.00 test.

2002 Malibu stalls while driving, doesn't over heat. But can start smelling gas fumes before it stalls. usually wait about 5 mins then restarts. in higher elevation runs fine but in lower elevatio

It sounds like the catalytic converter could possibly be almost completely plugged up not allowing the exhaust to leave the engine like it should. It just builds up in the cylinder head and when it gets too much in it built up and there's no where to go, it'll stall the engine. By letting it sit for a few minutes, it gives the exhaust time to find a way out and the car will restart.

Car died and wont restart

If the starter turns but doesn't engage then the starter relay is defective. Have it replaced.

Will stall while idling in drive and not restart right away. Jeep will seem to turn over, and RPMs rev up, then the engine dies.

no its more than likely not related to the trans,if you are having shift problems though,i would have the tps(throttle position sensor) checked out.another thing to check is the vacume lines to and from the egr valve and the valve its self for proper operation.

Sounds like you have a small bit of dirt or grit in the fuel system when accelerating it is drawn with enough force to cut off the fuel supply then is released when engine at Idle.
1 run liquid fuel line/injector cleaner in 1 tank
2 check fuel lines for debris
3 change fuel filters
4 have fuel tank flushed
here is trouble shooting order less expense to greater.
