Most common causes are a dirty throttle body or a faulty idle air control valve.
The computer controls idle speed by regulating the amount of air coming into the intake with the control valve.

How do I adjust low idle adaptation on 2005 Tacoma prerunner 4.0

1. Relearn the idle speed by disconnecting the EFI fuse and the ECTS fuse from the under hood fuse box. Leave the fuses out for 2-3 minutes minimum. Reinstall the fuses. Using your finger, push the throttle plates closed completely. Hold the throttle plates closed completely and have a helper turn the ignition switch on. Release the throttle plates as soon as the key is turned on. Reinstall the boot to the throttle body and start the vehicle. Allow the vehicle to idle for 5 minutes. Test drive the vehicle and check for normal idle operation.

01 Tacoma prerunner with 3.4 v6 accidently driven 15 miles without air filter. truck stalled and wouldn't start back up until I disconnected the battery hoping to reset the ECM. now it runs, but idles...

After you reinstall the air cleaner, you may need to take the vehicle to a Toyota dealer to have the ECM computer reset. In some cases, disconnecting the battery doesn't do the trick.

Low rpm on my 95toyota tacoma, untill about2800rpm

Engine stall or RPM fluctuates at idle.

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

I have a 2001 tacoma prerunner that does not want idol we replaced one off the coil packs an its still dose not want to run have to keep it in over drive

With info that you are giving me I only deduct that , maybe your idle control valve is stuck open with carbon buildup, clean the throttle, let some of the carburetor cleaner go to the idle control valve hole then spray gently compressed air in the Idle Valve hole. When you remove the throttle tube to clean the throttle plate you will see a little hole, that is the idle control valve hole.

My 98 Jetta GL 2.0 has a very low idle

Every time you loose power to a throttle body(disconnect battery or unplug wire from throttle), you need to do throttle body adaptation , using appropriate scantool.

2001 toyota tocoma idle rought

I'm not a mechanic. I had a similar problem with Tacoma. Mine had an "idle adjustment" screw on the side of the throttle body. (It's inset and black). Mark the position of the screw and remove it counting the turns. (This is so you can put it back in at the correct setting). Once removed, clean the screw with carb cleaner. Pay special attention to the end the enters the throttle body. Spray some carb cleaner in the throttle body also. Replace screw to original setting. It worked for me. Good luck!

High idle

In most cases with Toyota they will only go in one way and are not adjustable. High idle is a sign of a possible vacuum leak or incorrectly adjusted throttle cables
