When trying to start car, the dashboard lights flash on & off &
Filled up gas tank, gas pump would not shut off and overfilled tank and spilled out...immediately after when I started the ignition all dashboard lights flashed on & off; car would start then immediately turn off. After a few attempts car would only start as long as I continually step on the accelerator. This now happens on and off.....Did not have this problem until the gas tank overflowed. When I kick over the ignition with no start, the lights & radio,et c.....Could this be a electronic sensor problem related to the gas tank?

Hello Sam, I think you have a problem with your fuel solenoid valve that switches from front tank to the rear . I do know that Ford dealer has a recall on '93 F-150 like mine. I'm not sure about yours.
Secondary air injection system malfunction...Check your vacuum lines, and your air pump. Have you recently filled the gas tank in the car? I mean filled it like you keep topping it until the gas handle clicks and you try to squeeze more into the tanks??? If yes then you probably overfilled it and now the raw gas has gotten into the Charcoal evap canister and screwed the system up.
well first have you tried using another pump, and if so are you sure the tank is not full i know these sound simple but fuel gauge cold be faulty ext...but if so the fuel tank pressure could be to high do you or have you had the fuel come back up the filler neck something like a fuel tank overfill valve could be faulty in this case would need to see a prof. mechanic to diagnose ,and last pour gas in with a gas can see what happens you may get some type of answer fegas coming up filler or gauge inop ect...hope this helps
try disconnecting the fuel line leading into the fuel pump, let out a little fuel, then reconnect it. then disconnect the fuel line leading out of the fuel pump, letting out a little fuel.
if that doesnt work, run the car completely out of gas once. turn the engine over a few times while empty.
have you tried pumping gas with the enigine running? see if that helps. if this does help, it is probably the vacuum someplace, near the fuel injectors?
Iown 02 hyundai accent gl 1.6l. Had the problem twice. I used to over fill the tank until I had to spend close to $550.00 USD. The problem is when we overfill the tank. the carbon canister gets clogged and it damages a sensor in the assembly called "DMTL". Thia assy is located under the rear driver side of the car to the left and rear of the fuel tank. Once I replaced the carbon canister, sensor and filter the problem went away. if you let it go for a long time you eventually start smelling gas inside the car after fill ups. Good luck.
