Question about 1995 Lexus ES 300

Lexus '95 es300 - electrical issues - cig. lighter, inst needles

I have some electrical issues that I could use some insight for, or perhaps where to start to fix the problem.

Here are the issues, and they may be related or unrelated...

Cig lighter does not work - I do not know how to remove the lighter or the mount (help?) which would make it a lot easier to even attempt to fix. I tried looking down in it and it almost looks like nothing is connected to it anymore. (connection wiggled loose?)

My instrumentation needle lights for my RPM and speedometer do not work. Other needles and backlights work.

Random lights/led's do not work around my radio. For example, scan button, preset numbers 5 and 6 and even the left third of my radio screen. All of these seem randomly located around my radio so have no idea the issue here.

Thanks,

Nick

Mr. I also have similar problem about cigarette lighter, I did fix it myself because mechanic can't fix it. So I did play around to it and I did locate the issue. First check by getting a dc voltmeter and test it. if their is a current but low their is a short circuit on it, twist the bottom metal to avoid short circuit on it when you plug something.

None of the light issues are related unfortantly
they all start going out when the car gets older and higher milage.you will have to repair each problem seperatly by replacing or sending out to have rebuilt.

No power to heat and ac module

The most common problem is a coin or other metallic object falling into the cig lighter and shorting things out. Be certain you do not still have a penny in the bottom of the cig lighter socket. On mine, I just kept blowing fuses until I found it.

Amplifier location 1993 lexus es300

My Son has a 95 es300, the amp for it is located under the front passenger seat. The easiest way to access it is to remove the 4 bolts holding the seat down, and remove the seat. Takes about 5 minutes

Cigarette lighter stopped working

I had the same problem on my '97. I ended up taking out the lighter when I was replacing the LCD on the radio, only to find that somehow it had become disconnected. Not sure how it happened but it might be worth checking out to see if it wiggled loose. To get to the lighter: 1) Prior up the cover by the shifter (the one that also goes back to the seat heater). It is connected with snaps so pry slowly. 2) Once the panel is removed you will see screws that are holding in the ash tray/cig lighter. Unscrew those and the whole lighter/ash tray can be pulled out. It is also held in by snaps on the top.

Anyone having this problem should be aware that there is a second cigarette lighter inside the bottom of the console. You should check to see if that unit is working or not as well. If both units are out, you could have a bigger problem. You wouldn't want to replace the lighter unit and have it still not work.
