Re: oil light stuck on
This light is flashing due to a low engine oil pressure signal, this may be a real issue of low engine oil pressure or a defective pressure sensor on the engine, replace the sensor first and see if the light goes out, if not u have a possiable engine oil pump problem.

The overheating and lack of cabin heat both point to a failed engine thermostat which would be stuck closed. At the warm up stage, the coolant stays in the engine block to bring the engine to efficient operating temperature, then it opens and circulates the coolant through the radiator and heat core. If the thermostat is stuck closed, the engine will overheat, and coolant will never reach the heater core, and you will not get cabin heat.
Blinking oil light at idle which goes away during driving could be a low oil level, but may also be a drop in oil pressue. You could have a clogged oil fliter (at best) pickup tube, or a failing oil pump.
there is always the possibility that you really have low oil pressure when you get this light, at idle the engines oil pump produces the least pressure and if there are problems then that is when it shows up, so have the oil pressure tested by a shop with a mechanical test gage, if the oil pressure is within spec then replace the oil pressure light sending unit on the engine, I don't recommend you drive this until u are sure of the pressure, u can SEVERELY damage the engine is the pressure is really low.
when the thermostat in a beetle goes, it stays in the open position, so it could be you blue light is indicating a "cold system",change the thermostat.
the oil light will come on if low on oil or you have a low pressure, try using 10/40 semi synthetic oil.and mloyslip.if no improvement you will need to renew the oil pump.
Is it on when you are driving, or only at a stop when the car is idling? If it is more than at idle, I wouldn't drive it, as the engine may not be getting enough oil to lube it all and to help it stay cool. The oil pump needs to be changed in that case. It may be a bad oil pressure sending unit also.
check the connection & sensor right above the oil filter..they are so close to the oil filter they can be damaged easy when changing oil filters..i damaged mine before.. but sounds like a loose connector possible..hopfully ;-)
