Question about 1995 Nissan Maxima

1995 Nissan Maxima speaker failure

Recently approx. 3 days ago I hit a shallow bump while driving and all of the speakers in my vehicle cut out. I've checked the fuses in the box inside the cab near the steering wheel, the 15A fuse under the "BOSE" position was burnt out, I've replaced that and it didn't work. I read that it may have been a resistor inside the actual Bose head unit, so I've replaced the head unit, with the appropriate wire harness, the new head unit has power, and does work because it sends a signal through my subwoofers, just not the speakers. Is there a fuse somwhere inside the actual dash enclosure? I noticed a small black box on the floor when replacing the head unit that I didn't bother with, there was also what looked like a clip that may have been holding a fuse. I've also been told that each speaker in the bose system comes stock with its own amp, and that they may have blown but the chances of all 4 fuses going out at the same time are highly unlikely. I don't beleive its a problem with the wiring, I saw nothing out of the ordinary when putting on the wire harness. I've also put my ear up to the speaker and notices a very low steady hiss/whisping noise indicating that the speakers do have some sort of power running to them. What could be causing this?

i too am having the same problem where my radio turns on but produces no volume output from my speakers...i hope its not a wiring problem and is something very minor

Having attempted to rewire directly from the head unit, into the rear speakers and still not work leads me to beleive that somthing has gone wrong with the individual speaker amplifiers, I'll be replacing my stock bose speakers tonight with a new set, and checking the speakers while they're out of the car for any blown fuses or loose wires. I'll post my results for you if you havent found a solution already sgoyzen.

SOURCE: bose amp in a 1999 yukon denali

To isolate what speaker is what set of wires, I always use a AA 1.5V battery and touch one end of each set of wires on each end of the battery, and you'll hear a crackle from the speaker they belong to, then I label it. Can use AA,AAA,A,C,D battery doesn't matter as long as 1.5v. Don't know if that's what you were looking for or not. Old trick from years ago.

SOURCE: I bought a sony deck

each speaker in your car runs the wiring thru an amp. So each spkear has its own amp for the bose system. You can not hook up a none bose radio If you do you will need to run new wires and replace all the speakers. Sorry.

  • Hi, I can help.

  • Since you have tried the speakers and they do in fact work I would like to ask if you have addressed the amp wire? This should be blue. If you don't hook this up then you won't get no sound. It's a common over look. Please give it a try.

  • If you have any comments please leave them here and I will respond to you.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.
Regards, Tony

Where is the fuses to the windows 1995 nissan maxima

Those stereo\'s are junk...I\'ve had 3 4th Gen Maxima\'s and to be honest those aren\'t even Bose stereo\'s...they\'re Clarion system with a Bose cassette face plate on em and I read nothing but garbage about them. The speaker\'s w/amp\'s are true Bose but I hate them p.o.s.\'s and I now have a Pioneer deck and Jensen 600 amp...it\' fkn rocks and no games to play with the stereo. I even have the radio still in my trunk...just bouncing around. lol. Have fun and check under the hood cuz there are two boxes with fuses and relay\'s in them...look there. :D

2002 Nissan Sentra radio stopped playing.

It could be one of a couple of problems. First check the speakers and see if the cone rubber has worn or fallen out. It will be very visible if it has( the most outer piece of the cone ). If this is the case you can just replcae the speakers and all should be good.
Secondly it may be a short, if one of the wires connecting to the speakers is touching steel anywhere, the stereo will short the output circuts and there will usually be no volume. Any good stereo has a protection circut, so it doesn't blow the out puts on the stereo up.
Im guessing its the first problem, those nissans have pretty budget speakers made of paper cone..
