Question about 2002 GMC Envoy
2002 Envoy with Automatic climate control. Belt looks fine. Battery is new. Everything works fine (even with all bells and whistles turned on) until the front defrost is turned on (compressor on). The compressor clutch "clicks" on and off every few seconds and the charging system is not able to handle this. The voltage drops with each "click" and engine tries to stall. I discovered this when the old battery became discharged.
Also, the check engine light was on for about one day recently.
Any help would be appreciated.
The a/c will always turn on with defrost so the hot air wont crack a cold windshield.it sounds like altenator not keeping up. have it tested.if the engine realy boogs down with the a/c turned on the a/c compressor might be bad.(locking up)
