Question about 1996 Toyota T100

The back lights on my t-100 stay on. I had to pull a fuse to keep the battery from running down.Any suggestions?

Change the brake light switch on the brake pedal arm....its way under there.....

When not running the engine for a week, the battery dies. When I jump start it, engine will start cranking very slow and pickup speed before it starts running.


it seems like the battery is going. clean battery terminals, also the grounding to the body (engine block, transmission, etc.) all should be shiny cleaned. suggest you go to autozone (or other auto parts) for a free battery & alternator tests.

The battery has been replaced but the battery still loses power and runs down once its turned off


it sounds like you have somthing staying powered up hook up battery negitive cable and then use test light on positive lead put clamp on battery positive lead and use the point on the battery if light is on bright then you have somthing staying on like glove light dome lights or even visor lights with lead still hooked up you need to touch the clamp to the point end to power down the timer system usually 20 seconds then pull clamp away from point end while staying connected with battery and cable if you loose that connection you will need to start timer power down again then while someone is keeping the connection pull one fuse at a time and notice if light goes out or dim if it does either then see what that fuse powers and it will tell you what is staying powered

1980 caddy coupe deville has brand new battery, brand new alternator but the battery keeps draining.


Something is staying on after the key is turned off. easy way to find out what is staying energized is pull all fuses, disconect the battery, then put the amp meter in line with the positive side of the system between the positive battery post and the positive cable end. then put the fuses back in one at a time a see which one draws one or two amps. that will lead you to the draw down circuit. If nothing is pulling the battery down then the battery is not getting a full charge. Check the ground conection at the motor side of the cable and also the ground strap between the motor and the firewall

On my 94 jeep im having an electrical problem, something is killing my battery and i checked the alternator and my starter and i can not find the solution something is killing my battery rapidly please...


START THE VEHICLE, PUT A VOLTMETER ON THE BATTERY. THE VOLTAGE SHOULD READ 13.90 TO 14.80. IF THAT IS OK, THERE MAY BE A BATTERY DRAIN. TURN OFF EVERY SWITCH IN THE CAR.CLOSE ALL THE DOORS. MAKE SURE ALL THE COURTESY LIGHTS ARE GOING OUT. & THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT LIGHT. RAISE THE HOOD. DISABLE ANY UNDER HOOD LIGHTS. DISCONNECT THE NEG. CABLE FROM THE BATTERY. PUT A 12 VOLT TEST LIGHT, ONE END ON THE NEG BATTERY POST & THE OTHER END ON A GOOD GROUND { METAL }. IF THE LIGHT COMES ON THERE IS A BATTERY DRAIN. NO LIGHT , NO DRAIN. IF IT'S ON, ONE AT A TIME PULL THE FUSES OUT OF THE POWER DISTRIBUTION BOX. IF THE LIGHT STAYS LIT, PUT THE FUSE BACK. DO THIS WITH ALL THE FUSES BIG & SMALL. IF THE LIGHT STAYS LIT, DISCONNECT THE ALTERNATOR. THEY CAN CHARGE THE BATTERY WHILE RUNNING, & DRAIN WHEN STOPPED.

I have a replaced the battery three times on a 1995 Toytoa Corolla. I thought it was the alternator but it is charging. If I don't drive the car for a couple of days it drains the battery. Have taken the...


To do this test you will need a 12 volt test light. Call around to some auto parts stores to see who has one. (Napa, Advance,ect.)Take the positive battery cable off the battery.Connect one end of the light to the battery (clip end) connect the other end (pointed end) to the pos. cable.
The light will light up if some thing is on. One at a time pull out each fuse and see if the light goes out. Put the fuse back in and go to the next fuse.Hope fully your fuse box has a label on it that tells you what each fuse is for.
Right down the one or ones that keep the light on. This will be the circuit that you need to check out.This will narrow down the search.See whats on that circuit and check it out. In an older car with no problems the light stays out. How ever, the newer cars keep things like radio clock on.
Keep your door shut to kill the interior light.
This will give you a place to start.

My 1995 Lexus SC 300 has been running it's battery dead the last two nights. Nothing has been left on (ie. headlights, etc.). Right now the dashboard is lite up and there is no way to turn it off....

Draw on battery when car on


First disconnect the battery overnight just to make sure the battery is not self discharging......if it's dead or down in charge while disconnected....time for a new one.
Now.....if the battery is good....disconnect one battery cable and place a 12 volt test light between the cable and the battery post the cable had just been attached to. A bright light means a drain in the car.
Your job is to remove one fuse at a time until the light dims.
A dim light is OK...clock memory etc.
Remember....a open car door is a drain......the dome light.....so keep them closed while pulling fuses.
Also....if the fuses don't show a drain......disconnect ALL wires from the alternator....there could be a drain there.
Just keep disconnecting one thing at a time until the light goes out or dims.

Disconnect the alternator harness. If the light goes out it's likely the alt has an internal short.

Slow to fast battery drain problem when engine is off.


If you connect a 12VDC test light in line, between your + battery post & + battery cable,(cable off battery obviously) the light will stay lit brightly as long as there is a draw. Keep in mind your radio will cause some due to memory function, clock etc. Pull stereo/radio fuse to eliminate that draw, then start removing fuses, and putting them back, watch light. If it dims, or goes out, you've found the source of your current draw. I have had to resort to pulling them all,(after making notes for anything I needed to remember about where they were) to get light to go out, then re-installing one by one & watching light. When it comes on nice & bright, note which fuse slot, and pull it back out and continue on, in case of more than one draw.
