Oil and filter changing for 08 sienna. How complicated is it?

08 sienna van. the oil filter is not the conventional spin on type, it has a cartridge that goes into a canister. Is this place that the drain the whole oil system from? There is nothing in the owners manual. I tried to find a repair manual for 08 sienna but there is none to be found as of yet.
What is the does and don'ts for oil filters and oil changing for this 08 sienna?

That was somewhat helpful and I appreciate the quick response. Another question....what can I use in place of the sst (special tool)? I have been changing oil etc. for over 50 years and have not come across this type of filter.

Also, is there any service/repair manuals for 08 sienna van?

You still have to drain the engine oil from the drain plug in the oil pan, and I recommend replacing the drain plug gasket.
If you buy a filter from Toyota, it actually comes with instructions on exactly what to do. There is a 3/8" recess in the bottom of the filter housing, when you put a 3/8" extension and a ratchet in this and remove it, there should be a plastic piece that comes with the filter to pop into the bottom of the housing and drain the oil. replace the o-ring and reinstall the housing drain plug.

You can get a filter-cup tool from Pep Boys or local auto parts tools sections that will fit the filter housing. Use the cup with a ratchet and extension to remove the filter housing. replace the filter cartridge and the o-ring. Make sure to lubricate o-ring, they will snag! Reinstall and add 6.4 qts of oil

The oil is drained nomally, as you would do in any other car. The oil is drained from a plug on the oil pan; use a new gasket before you refit the drain plug/bolt onto the oil pan. Toyota part number for the drain plug gasket: 90430-12028.
The oil filter cartridge does require some info, though. In the box with the new filter-cartridge, you get 2 O-rings. Please make sure that you use them, or your filter housing WILL leak. Hope this helps, Thnaks for choosing FixYa to assist you with your question.

2007 mitsubishi lancer es sw what engine oil to use

Do you have a Driver's Manual for the vehicle? It could be Synthetic Oil or Conventional oil. Either one is ok, but the synthetic is better to have installed from the beginning and continue using. If your running conventional oil and switch to Synthetic, you may cause the engine to start leaking oil. because of this change. Once you determine the type oil , a good name brand 30wt oil is fine. Change oil and filter every 3000-5000 miles depending on your driving type. Freeway or city driving

Oil filter location on 2011 sienna

It uses a cartridge type filter, the filter is inside an aluminum housing in front just behind the radiator on the engine block, you will need a special filter socket to remove it, the dealers have it as well as most autoparts stores. You will see a 1/2" square hole, turning it will not remove the filter housing, you need a socket that fits on the 3" or so housing cap.

What type of oil do you recommend and what size oil filter does it take?

Use SAE 5w30 oil. I recommend Pennzoil but all major brands are good. You can use Synthetic or Conventional oil. If you use conventional oil change the oil/filter every 5,000 miles. If you use Synthetic change it every 8,000 miles. Anyplace that sells oil filters can tell you the correct filter. On your Pontiac I recommend you use an AC/Delco filter. Purolator, Wix, and Bosch are also excellent filters. The 4 cylinder uses a AC/Delco PF47 filter. The V6 uses a AC/Delco PF457G.

How many quarts does the sienna 2006 needs when perfoming oil cha

Exactly five quarts to do an oil change on this van assuming you are also replacing the oil filter.
How long between oil changes is typically recommended to be 5000 miles by Toyota. The van's service reminder light comes on at 5000 miles just for this purpose. To increase that interval is your choice.

Every 3,000 miles or every 3 months, which ever comes first.
If you need the type of oil, look in the owners manual that's in the glove box, that will show what type of oil to use.
