you were right on the money. a few others said it was my "battery" but that was the battery inside of hood not on my keyless.

As Benimur posted:
Yes, in most instances, the immobilizer feature of your alarm system would prevent manual cranking.

Hope this helps.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

In certain instances, the alarm/security/keyless system inside the car is not the issue. It would be the remote. While you can actually try to disassemble the remote, clean the pads, buttons and/or check/replace the battery. There are even occasion when the old remote just needs synchronization. If for some reason, the remote would need replacement, it is readily available. Pls try here or here for starters.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Probably not a fuse issue it sounds like the remote isn't working at all. I would have the remote system checked out.

The four button remote with keyless entry and remote start on my 2001 buick lesabre has stoped working. The keyless and trunk and horn functions all still work fine just the remote start has quit working. ...

it maybe that the relay in the alarm module for the starting function has stopped working. your best bet would be an alarm shop where they can test the connection for function. have seen this issue several times. Does the engine turn over at all? if it does then the time for cranking may need to be adjusted.

Keyless remotes not working

Try reprogramming the remotes. Here are the instructions for the procedure. Hope it helps. Cobra!
Programming NOTE: All keyless entry remote transmitters (15K601) must be programmed at the same time.
NOTE: To program (or reprogram) the keyless entry remote transmitters into the RAP module, perform the following steps:
  1. Make sure that the anti-theft system is not armed or triggered.
  1. Turn the ignition switch (11572) from OFF to RUN eight times within ten seconds, ending in RUN. If the RAP module has successfully entered program mode, it will lock and then unlock all doors.
  1. Within 20 seconds, press any button on a keyless entry remote transmitter, and the doors will lock and then unlock to confirm that each keyless entry remote transmitter has been programmed. Repeat this step for each transmitter.
  1. If the door locks do not respond for any keyless entry remote transmitter, wait several seconds and press the button again. If the door locks still fail to respond, refer to Inspection and Verification.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, or wait up to 20 seconds after step 2, to exit program mode. If a keyless entry remote transmitter has been programmed (or reprogrammed), the RAP module will lock and unlock all doors one last time to confirm.

Keyless entry stopped working on 05 cobalt now i have to unlock door with the key and when i do that the alarm goes off. Help

Lock all the doors from the inside (with all the doors closed), unlock your driver's door by manually lifting the lock, then press it back down after you are out - this will prevent the alarm from sounding when you use the key to unlock the door.

Try "resetting" your keyless entry code. Which is a fancy way of explaining that I broke my keyless entry key fob and had to order a new one. It came w/ instructions explaining how to get the new fob to speak to the car's computer. It was weird (turn key on and off 3 times, open and close door three times, etc. **I'm sure my neighbors were watching and laughing**), but it worked. I'll scan and email you the insrtuctions if you wish. Dan: dcarterlaw@lycos.com

Keyless entry

My keyless entry did the same thing on my cobalt. There are two tongs that get displaced. Atleast that's how it is in mine. I find if i hit the clicker off my hand a couple times it works. Sounds funny i know but that's the only thing i've found to work
