Cold weather won't usually hurt anything in your heater, it will just take longer to warm up the cabin.

the lack of heat is a sign that you're probably not getting the proper circulation in your cooling system, that is, the radiator, anti-feeze/coolant, fan, etc.

bad circulation means your anti-freeze level could be low from a leak, or a hose that popped off. or you could have a bad water pump, which is what circulates the coolant through the engine and radiator, even though we don't use water anymore.

the solution is to have someone who knows how check the thermostat, radiator, coolant level, hoses, and water pump to make sure everything is working.

be sure to address the problem soon, because if it's a coolant system problem, the more your drive, the more damage your engien will suffer.

Heater not working at all

The morning commute can be stressful.
But if your car heater starts blowing cold air and suddenly stops working in the middle of winter, it can make it downright miserable.
If your car has no heat, not only would the inside of your car feel like an ice box, but a broken heater can prevent your defroster from blowing warm air to your windshield to eliminate ice and fog, which can pose a hazard while driving. Not having a working heater in your vehicle could even become a dire situation, if you end up stranded.

Why is my car heating not working?

K car heater can stop working for a number of reasons, including:
• A low antifreeze/water level in the radiator due to a leak in the cooling system.
• A bad thermostat that isn't allowing the engine to properly warm up.
• A blower fan that isn't working properly.
• Coolant that contains rust particles or becomes otherwise contaminated and is blocking the heating core from circulating air into the cabin properly

Cost to fix a car heater

Most heating-related repairs range from $300 to $1,000,, but it's difficult to pinpoint an exact number because of the variety of problems that exist.
A decrease in the coolant level or a leak in the coolant system is one of the more common problems,
"Topping it off may help in the short term, but it's an indication of a deeper problem and should be checked out," "You shouldn't have to add anything at all if everything is working well. It can damage the motor if there is low heat [from too little coolant]."
leaks could be as simple as a loose hose clamp, or a major problem like a leaking engine cylinder head gasket, which can cause serious damage to the engine and cost several hundred dollars to replace.

Why wont my heat in my1997 ford f150 work

check coolant level and temperature of the heater hoses after the engine is at operating temp. the heater hoses should be the same temperature if not then the heater core is plugged and needs replacing. if the hoses feel the same temperature but not heat you may need to replace the thermostat. I am guessing the blower motor is functioning to blow air over the heater and into the cab.

Is there a fuse or relay for the heater in my 2002 ford expedition

No hot air is due to low coolant, or even poor coolant flow. The engine heats up the coolant, and it passed through your heater core, and the heater blower motor pushes air through the heater core to warm up the air. If your "fan"is working, but the air is cold, make sure your coolant level is good.

No interior heat in my 2000 daewoo nubira

3 possible issues here,

the first is that your thermostat is stuck open, when this happens the air will barely be warm, luke warm at best, replacing the thermostat will fix this problem

the second, is that you have low coolant levels, when your coolant levels are way low, your heater core doesn't get the proper amount of coolant (if any) and the system blows cold air instead of heated air.

The third and final possibility, is that your heater core has clogged up (usually happens when stop leak or some type of radiator sealant is used) when this happens you can feel warm air when accelerating (test this by gently reving the vehicle and holding the rpm's when it is in park and holding your hands over the defrost vent to check for heat.

If you can tell me what symptom your vehicle is having I can help with instruction on how to fix it thanks cnc_couple@live.com

Would the heater control valve malfunctioning make the engine overheat blowing hot air out the heater one moment, then not blowing the hot air, temp gage spikes 225 plus. The motor takes awhile to heat up...

Heater control valve malfunction will not cause engine to overheat unless coolant is leaking externally...Overheating going down the road can be the result of a few different things...Partly clogged radiator...Insufficient air flow due to possible fan problem...External coolant leak...Make sure fans are operting properly and have cooling system pressure tested for leaks...Gaining and losing heat on the inside of the vehicle usually means system is low on coolant but you must find out where coolant is going

My heater only blows hot air when the car is moving and cool air when I sit at idle. Also the inside window fog up if I try to use the defroster mode 1st thing.

Hi:
Your heating system is dependent on hot coolant to be circulated through your heater core, which a fan blows across, and you get heat. If you only get heat when you are moving, that means that either your engine is low on coolant, or the engine's water pump is not working well. Check your coolant level when your engine is cold.

Warm heat not hot

Check antifreeze level, if it is low coolant may not flow through heater core. If coolant level is ok feel the heater hose with engine running at normal operating temp and heat on high, if one hose is much cooler than the other you have a bad heat control valve or a pluged heater core.
