Question about 1998 Isuzu Trooper

4 Answers

OLD POST DO not respond! 2008 Wal-Mart put Three (3) Gallons of oil in when changing the oil.

I am disabled my wife drove the car for two weeks approx. 5 miles a day then it started to smoke and make a loud knocking noise. when I checked it was obvious that to much oil had been used. Now I have to rebuild it. my son drained the oil and saved it, then put five quarts of oil in it like it is supposed to have (1998 Isuzu Trooper 3.5L V6). knocking noise in the top passenger side of the motor.

They reviewed their tapes and refused the claim, even though the engine had 11+ quarts of oil in it! They refused to look at oil level on dipstick or hear and see the motor run.

The problem is a connecting rod in the lower part of the motor replace it and the pistion it will be the cheapest route but do it from the botton of the motor do not tear off the heads bults r not replaceable you can get to it by dropping the oil pan and another plate after that you should be able to see and check what 1 is bad and fix it good luck!

It's not too old, you can do it. You said three adapters. Is that three different ones you bought or three plugs on the car. You should be able to go to Wal-Mart and By a plug that will work.

2004 jeep grand cherokee, 4.0, change oil without filter change,

Not sure why the question is even being asked, but you can change the oil yourself in about 15 minutes; simply jack the front end, put a pan under the oil drain plug, open the plug, let it drain, put the plug back in, and add new oil.

Take it to any outlet that changes oil (Wal-Mart, for example, charges about $18, some places charge as little as $15) and they'll include a new filter because otherwise you're running new oil through an old filter, which defeats the idea of the oil change. You can ask them not to put on a new filter, but you'll still pay the base price.

My question is, why would you not want a new filter if you're changing oil.

Let me know if this answers your question.

1996 ford f150 4x4 v8, has small hole in oil pan

An old easy "back yard" solution for this is drain the oil pan/pull it off is easily removed, and use a propane torch and coat hanger to "braisse" the hole. You can use "JB Weld" (sold at any auto parts store and wal-mart) to temporarily plug the hole, but it won't hold too long, may be as short as two weeks, may hold 2 years, it's unpredictable
