There is no easy way you have to take the wheel off take the brakes loose and pop the cv joint out.thats the hardest part youll also need a big socket to remove the end bolt on the shaft. it takes about 45 minutes per side.

The easiest way is using a split boot .... you just cut off old one... put nen one on you glue the seam and put the clamps on the ends.... very easy about 1/2 hour

1993 Toyota Corolla DX, 141,00 miles. Found out the CV boot on the driver's side is cracked, it was making a "grinding" noise and the mechanic found the crack by squirting grease in the boot....

You might be able to replace the boot only, but in all the years I have been working on cars ( close to 40) I have yet to see a boot repair that works. The only way to "fix" a bad boot is to replace it with a one piece boot and that means you have to remove the axle and dissasemble the CV joint. I just replace the whole CV axle.

CV joint already compromised. Unless you dismantle and clean the CV....filthy job...expensive molybdenum grease too....waste of time..Obtain replacement exchange shaft from FLAPS...( Friendly Local Auto Parts Store.)

There are replacement streeeeaaach boots but it takes a special expander tool.

How do i change the spark plugs on a 1993 honda civic lx

You'll need a feeler gauge, a 5/8th inch socket and at least a 6 inch extension, a rachet, and an extendable magnet. Remove 1 spark plug wire boot, try turning or twisting to boot to disconnect. Remove the plug, use the magnet to get the plug out once it is unscrewed. Some spark plug sockets have a rubber peice that helps hold on to the plug when removing.

Hi there, what will happen if i do not get craced

hi this could cost you allot of money in the long run if you don't, the reason is, the cv joints have ball bearings inside which are very smooth, the cv gateor/boot holds in the grease to prevent them from seizing and going rusty you can actually buy **** boots that glue together that you fit without taking the drive shaft out if this is what is the cost that would be bothering you, but yes they will need replacing and soon as you can do it..hope this helps please vote thanks

1993 makes a clanking sound and shimmies when steering to rights. Is that a CV joint or boot problem?

The clank (or more of a sharp clink) would indicate that your CV joint is bad on that side. The boot on the joint protects it against road dirt, etc. If the boot itself is torn, that's another indication that the CV joint is in trouble. Best to have it checked soon.
Hope this is helpful.

My huband is trying to replace the boot on the Cv axle in my 05 Honda Pilot. The problem he is having is getting the axle apart so he can get the new boot on. Any ideas?

You should be replacing the CV shaft not just the boot. Dirt entering the split boot will cause failure shortly after boot replacement only.

Cv boot replacement - how important is it?

I would not let them go for to long, it will only cost you more money in the long run. I have had several front wheel drive cars, one being a honda. I let them go for a few months when I new they needed replacing. All the dust and little rocks and debris got in there. I ended up having to replace both drive axels and also replacing the boots. So I would get this fixed as soon as possible.

Cv axle replacement: boot worn/torn, axle dry

u can get a boot with all accessories and grease for like 12 bucks at napa. u will need a clamping tool but might be able to sub in a vice grips. depending on if its inner boot or outter you have to take the steering knuckle most of the way off and then cut the old boot and slip on new one with grease and then the clamps. when u are done you will need a front ent alignment. for the amount of work and the aliugnment $200 doesnt seam too bad but depends how comfortable u are doing all the work.

How often to replace cv boots/cv joints/axle?

If something off the road tore the boot, yes but if it has not been tore long and you don't hear any clicking noises around corners, you can just replace the boot.
