Question about 1988 Dodge Caravan

1989 chev s10 4.3 Heater blower does not always work

Last year found when it was cold outside and the truck was cold when starting the struck and switching on heater it would not come on, found if I tapped the heater fan casing it would then work fine.

So I'm thinking that the blower needs to be replaced? I know the heater core you have to go through the dashboard & glove compartment but being as I tap the heater casing would I be able to remove it from the other side in the engine at the firewall?

The reason that I think its the blower motor is when it first does not start I tape it then turn the switch on and the blower come on nice and strong. So thinking it is the blower moter I'm i going in the right direction

If its the blower motor you have to take it off from the outside theres no other way to remove it.

you may be able to take the one in there out spray it down with wd 40 and fix it that way.its just worn is all. a new one should only run a bit over 30.00 but i agree you are going in the right direction

Heater blower motor works intermittently

Hello Osbourne,
heater or 'blower motor's are prone to bearing failure, which can cause interference between fan & heater box;stopping,or slowing fan.consult a shop manual to DIY,or have a mechanic check blower motor .[I have found a stockpile of acorns causing a problem a time or two!!] Hmmm,Summer OK;Winter.........O nuts.......good luck!

1989 chev g30 heater fan is blowing yet no heat is there a a switch?

Check the antifreeze for temperature protection.Have you changed it lately? Without proper mix in the winter,it will only blow cold air.
Hope this helps

Heater blower on van won't come on. Already replaced heater blower and checked fuses.

Check blower motor resistor make sure none of the spring's are broken, resistor sit next to blower motor in housing, also check blower motor relay for voltage, also sit over by blower motor outside of housing and last check voltage at blower motor switch.Hope this was very helpful, good luck.

I have a 1989 C/K Blazer fan/blower problem. The fan/blower just would not work when I started the truck. The fuse is good, the fan/blower was replaced last year (Worked till now). Next???

See if you have power at the motor when the switch is on. If you don't you have a switch problem. If you do, you have a blower motor problem again.
