I own a 1987 chevy iroc z28 and have found metal shavings on my dipstick will i need to replace my engine or can that be fixed

Does it burn oil, smell oil filler cap for burnt oil smell, dipstick must be magnetized, unusual. Safest for you to drop the oil in a long clean tray for inspection, be careful of sump plug as it should also have shavings, note if shavings are small and short, if long, then bearings are seriously in danger, flush engine with quality engine oil flush fluid, put new quality oil in and filter, run engine for around 250 miles and re inspect, dipstick, sump plug, and oil, if significant shavings are found, change all mains and con-rod bearings, if hardly any or none, reuse oil and check after about 1000 miles.

Re-grinded crank fitted and developed initial problem

While tough to say from this vantage point it would appear the wrong size bearings may have been used. Did your mechanic use plasti-gae to confirm what size bearing were needed? A newly reground crank with proper bearings and lube should be able to have been rotated.

Good luck and I hope this may have assisted,
Tom

4d56 engine high fuel consumption

4d56 is a diesel engine, fuel, oil, air filter change definitely, regular oil change, check tyre pressure, etc all basic things u can do yourself, after all its no 40+ MPG modern diesel engine its been around for years and years and being used in courier van, pajero and delica, i have a Delica with 4D56 turbo and its loves drinking diesel like no tomorrow, run it on veggie oil like i do you wont worry too much about your fuel consumption.

When I keep my pajero in starting state, it gives the sound of pulsation feeling and get hot. one of the LED indicator comes is a spendle shaped with symbol of heating at the cenetre of the spindle

i dont understand do you mean starting as in cranking over or pulling away
if it has a 4d56t engine and gets hot when pulling away it is head gasket, not a nice job
if it has a 4m4o engine it more than likely a cracked head but is much easier than a 2.5 to fix
