Question about 2007 Volkswagen Passat Sedan

My 99 Passat wagon turns over but will not start (cold weather)

My 99 passat wagon will not start. I think it flooded two days ago in the cold, but now it just turns over and turns over, sputters a little, but will not start. I tried holding the gas peddle down, but that did not help. the oil light comes on so then I stop, and try again in 12+ hours, but no luck. any ideas?

My 99 Passat emits an very strong gas/benzene order whenever I start it in subzero temps.  I have an auto start, so I don't notice it until it has been warming up in the parking lot for 10-15 minutes.  Is this dangerous?  The dealer said if not lights came on on the dash and it starts and runs, it is ok.  The smell is so strong and lasts for a long time.  I have to keep the windows open (no small inconvenience in 14 below weather!!!) to breathe!  What to do?

somethinglike this happened to me recently and the vw dealer never seen the like of it.

it was -8 early in the morning.car started no problem and off i went.got as far as the fuel filter held and power died.wouldn't restart so towed it to the dealer.car was turning over as normal but wouldn't fire so we checked the filter......full of ice......i had let the tank go fairly low the day previous and the water in the bottom of the tank had been drawn through the system and frozen inside the fuel lines?

but the main fault was inside the fuel tank by the fuel gauge level.there is a plastic gause at the bottom of it and there was a ball of ice blocking any fuel from going through the system.

thawed it out with a hair dryer and gave the diesel a bit of help by putting an air line into the tank while blocking as much air as we could from coming out the fuel cap and gave it a blast of air to force it through the lines........

up she fired....happy days and no cost as it was a lesson learned for all the mechanics,

hope this helps someone some day.

Pull out your spark plugs and check for fuel fouling. If they are fouled replace them. If it was badly flooded you may have to shoot a little oil into the spark plug holes then turn the engine over with the spark plugs out. Reinstall plugs and it should fire off. Good luck.

My 1998 tj jeep is hard to start, i replaced fuel pump because the filter had come off the end of it. and replaced the crank position sensor because i got a code po320 It ran fine for a while and then...

try to give it a little more gas it sputters an back fires! In the first place your not giving it more gas unless it running ! If just cranking all your doing is letting more air in . Your vehicle has electronic fuel injection , not a carbuerator . Till the computer see's a RPM over 300 rpm , it's going by programming installed in the PCM - engine computer . It sputters an back fires because of a lean condition , low fuel . When starting a fuel injection engine you don't touch the throttle pedal . And if you were to push it to the floor and hold it , the computer goes into clear flood mode. If the vehicle were flooded that is what you would want to do .
P0320 OBD II Trouble Code
You may have O2 sensor problem or a map sensor or coolant temp . sensor . Your best take it an have a qualifiedd repair shop diagnose it .

What is exclamation mark on the MFD of my 2008 passat

Minus 40? Well is the water coolant frozen? Surprised its starting at that temperature. The oil would be thicker when cold. Modern cars are more trouble than older

could be time for a tune up also check the spark plug holes for oil if the valve cover gasket are leaking into there can also have a bad coil if the check engine light is on have it scanned at a auto parts store (most do it for free)the code can lead you to the bad cylinder exp code p0301 is cylinder number one p0306 is cylinder number six and the same for p0302-p035

You may have lost programming to the body control module, contact the local VW dealer to scan the system for faults.

What's your problem? 2002 Passat V-6 Multi-function lites

this is because the screen has a ribbon on the glass to the board over time in hot and cold weather it loses is connection, you can replace the ribbon and it will work fine after that but it will do this again later one as its inevitable. if you wish to change the ribbon you should be able to get one from this site. This morning it was very difficult to start my 03 Passat

VAG suffer greatly with a signal failure to ECU that brings the choke on when cold. Your fault is text book of this.

Follow the top radiator hose to where it meet the engine, at that point you will see a sensor, it has 4 wires and is held in by a horseshoe clip. This is the water coolant sensor, replace it and you'll be happy again :o)

My 2001 Passat wagon has an intermittent starting problem, engine turns over but won't catch. Dealer says to replace instrument cluster but not guaranted to fix the problem. Any suggestions appreciated.

I have seen the ignition coil on the 4 cylinder models cause intermitant no start when wet the coil arcs causing loss of spark to the plugs this happens after hard rain falls and engine detailing are some examples.
