Your brakes will function normally, you just will not have abs until you solve the problem, the most common solution is a wheel speed sensor, if you can get the codes from the abs computer, it generally will tell you which one is faulty. If you can't get codes try unpligging each sensor and replugging them. could just be a bad sensor. Hope this helps!

Abs and brake lights on

Could be a bad sensor in one wheel or could be a bad wire connection which I had. My mechanic told me to just drive it with the light on as you still have good brakes when the ABS is not working. All the Abs does is help you stop a little quicker in ice and snow. Abs makes the brakes alternate when wheels are sliding. It will not lesson the braking power. Older cars do this and it cost a lot of money to find out whether its wire or sensor related. Could be a sign the brakes are wearing down as well.

ABS light coming on??

First check the brakes fluid to be sure it's full. If the pedal feels normal and the vehicle is braking OK you may need new brake pads as the ABS system is sensing too much fluid being pumped when braking. Other than that have a dealer or shop diagnose the system to be sure all parts are working in the system.

I purchased a 1992 Honda Accord Sedan. The car was clean and runs great. However, when I purchased the car the ABS light was on. I took the car to have the brakes checked. I was told the car needed...

well first of all, the mechanic you took it to was not a good one because he did unnecessary work to your car by changing the master cylinder, second, a good mechanic will know how to fix your abs, by replacing damaged speed sensors or abs computer. but my recommendation is that unless you have a lot of money or brake very hard frequently, that it is not a big deal because abs only comes in when you have to brake hard, and even without abs, your regular brakes work fine. abs does not come standard on all cars, including some new basic cars don't have abs. if you do take it to a shop, it should cost no more than 300 dollars to fix it, considering you have a trustworthy mechanic, if you like to get dirty and do it your self, you can google "92 accord abs computer", and a couple of forums come up on how to diagnose and correct the problem. so if money is tight, you can ignore this problem as it is a "luxury" feature any ways. my car has the same problem and ive had my car for 3 years with no brake problems at all. and if it makes you feel more comfortable, my friend has a 92 accord and his has no abs even from factory so like i said, it is just a "luxury" feature, and you should have no braking problems at all. just be safe when you drive, and you should be fine. hope this helps, good luck

YOU HAVE A FAULT IN THE ABS BRAKE SYSTEM.THE DEALERSHIP HAS TO FIX.BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO USE DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT TO SEE WHAT CAUSING ABS LIGHT TO COME ON.THE ONLY THING YOU CAN DO IS CHECK ABS FUSE AND RELAY.COULD BE A MINOR THING BEFORE SPENDING A LOT OF MONEY.

2001 Chevrolet Tahoe , 5,3 vortec have ABS problem,

the abs system stops working at 3mph(approx)it wiil not stop the wheels from locking up at low speed(3mph)to check abs working, take car upto 40 mph then, stand on the brake pedal, should feel like a machine gun going off under your foot,it helps you stop in a steered manner.if you do this in the wet,you will notice the wheels skid at the low end.some makers have a switch to tyrn the abs off(in snow)

ESP & ABS light comming on all the time

you should have the ESC/ABS module scanned for DTC's.

here are the 2 most likely causes.

1. low brake fluid
2. sticking/siezing brake lamp switch

at the dealership i see the brake lamp switches go bad left & right on a lot of the newer hyundai's. are your brake lights working?

2001 Mercury Grand Marquis brake and ABS dash lights on and off

The red brake light is the key here. That usually indicateds a hydraulic problem. Check you fluid level in master cylinder and see if it is low. Also the level indicator sensor there in the master cylinder maybe sticking or corrioded. If ABS sees the red brake light it will shut off and turn on the ABS light, also traction control would be disabled as well.
