Instrument panel symbols on dash of a 2003 ford windstar

In the center of the instrument panel is a symbol (O) or sort of like this that came on today and lights up in red. This stayed on for quite some time. When I stopped the engine and restarted it it was on again. After driving for a few kilometers the symbol went out.Since I have no manual I could not think of what this pertained to.Can you please help. Thanks Larry

Anytime Larry! but you know what, I suggest that you check your brake linings up on the rear because if the lights came on for quite sometimes, it means that the brake lining and the drum had been rubbing each other and this is a significant loss of lining thickness.

Loosen, then tighten front door hinge bolts on both sides. This is ground for instrument panel.

If gear indicator is stuck over tach needle, you can take dash apart or drill 3/8 hole with sharp bit over center of tach needle base, turn it counter clockwise while transmission is in neutral. Then find a 3/8 flanged plug to make all nicely nice. Good luck.

I am assuming you mean the dash oil light symbol? this can be reset by a mechanic with a code reader, he can check and reset them for you, most don't charge just to have a look and he can tell you why it came on too. Good luck

It's your oil light.

Check your oil light as it's most likely low. Other causes can be a bad sensor, or there's a pressure leak

This is usually caused by the switches sticking in the door latches. Try spraying some WD40 in the latches and open and close the doors a bunch of times that should take care of it.
