No brakes after replacing brake calipper

I replace 1 front brake calipper then bled the brake systems about 5 times now following the correct wheel order and still don't have brakes.
please help

Sorry about all your hassle, but it sounds like you still have air in line. It can be a real pain and needs 2 people sometimes.. Press and hold brakes till steady stream comes out and tighten. Repeat for ALL lines.

If this Brake system was bled correctly then all the air should be out of the system. Therefore the only other reason that the brake wouldn't work is that the master cylinder is BAD. Its probably sucking air internally so when you bleed it get air back in system.Change mater and that should take care of this problem. when you bleed, start form the wheel furthest from the master cylinder first that would be the RR LR RF then LF. 1997 mercury sable gs 3.0l replaced master brake, still having brake pedal feeling spongy and slowly traveling down. i bench bled master brake and bled brake right rear left rear right then front.


If the master cylinder is replaced, care must be taken to prime the new master cylinder by removing all of the air and completely filling it with brake fluid. The spongy feeling is air that is still in the circuits. You will need to bleed the back brakes as well as the front ones again. The order that you bled them seems correct, but perhaps there remained some air in the main trunk lines.

For the best results 2 people are needed. Start at the further distance wheel cylinder and bleed at least three (3) master cylinder reservoir volumes of fluid (back brakes). Bleed the fluid with use of a piece of tubing attached to the bleed port that is long enough to reach almost to the bottom of a long neck or tall clear jar (clear drink bottle works well). When the bleeding begins, after one or two brake pedal pushes, make sure that the end of the tubing is below the surface of the fluid and keep it under. It best to have a clear bleed line (to observe air). Keep pumping the brake pedal while being careful to not completely empty the master cylinder reservoir (leave 1/4 full always). Repeat the same technique for each wheel cylinder with at least two (2) reservoirs full for front brakes. Partially close the bleed ports when almost finished (at least 5 pedal strokes without exit of any air). Completely close the ports during the down stroke of the brake pedal, with the tubing still attached. Be sure each bleed port is closed snuggly.
Most of the brake fluid can be reused, but not the darker portion at the bottom of the jar.

Your car has a diagonally split brake system. Each side of this system must be bled as an individual system, and there is a correct bleeding sequence to be followed. First bleed the right rear brake, second, bleed the left front brake, then follow with the left rear brake and lastly, bleed the right front brake.Here's a link on a repair guide for bleeding your brakes. How do you install rear brake pads and rotors on 2007 s550 Mercedes benz


hi,first off all open bonnet and undo cap on brake master cylinder reservare,(put a nice absorbant cloth round the reservare just to be shore not to get the brake flued on eney paint work,as it will damidge it),then jack car up and take road wheele off,(make shore hand brake is off and car has some wedge shape wood under front wheele so that car cant move eneywhere),the calipper that holds the brack pads in place has two bolts at the back off the calipper,if there is wires coming out of the brake pads undo at connectors,(these are brake sensors to worn you when the brake pads are worn out,not all mercedes have them),right you need to fist get a screwdriver and put it between the pad and disc and push gently so the piston thats in the calipper(on the inside of the calipper)moves in so that the pads can now move back and forth a little bit in the calipper,now you can undo the two bolts on the back of the calipper the calipper will come off the car,now push the pads apart so that the piston is pushed right into the calipper,(you can do this with a g-clamp or grips then put a spanner in between the brake pads to stop the piston from moving back out)now you can carefuly put the calipper aside being carefull not to stretch the brake hose, now the brake disc (rotor)if you look at the disc where the studs are you will see a small screw or allan-key fitting undo that and the disc will come off(some times you might have to just give it a little bit of help by hitting the disc gently with a hammer),
then put it back in reverce of taking apart(dont forget when you have put it back together press the brake peddle a couple of times then top up the brake fluid in the reservare in between the recarmended lines on the reservare.

When i press the brake pedal you can see bubbles in the brake fluid reserviour.


Have you been bleeding with a vacuum bleeder tool or the conventional way. A vacuum bleeder gets out more air provided that everything else is done correctly.Like the correct wheel sequence depending on weather you have rear wheel anti-lock only or four wheel abs.Refer to a Haynes repair manual.

How do I bleed brakes on a dodge stratus 1998

    For vehicles equipped with an Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), please refer to the ABS bleeding procedure at the end of this section.
    The purpose of bleeding the brakes is to expel air trapped in the hydraulic system. The system must be bled whenever the pedal feels spongy, indicating that compressible air has entered the system. It must also be bled whenever the system has been opened or repaired. If you are not using a pressure bleeder, you will need a helper for this job.

    WARNING Never reuse brake fluid which has been bled from the brake system.


    MASTER CYLINDER

    See Figure 1
    If the master cylinder is off the vehicle, it can be bench bled.

    1. Secure the master cylinder in a bench vise.
    2. Connect 2 short pieces of brake line to the outlet fittings, bend them until the free end is below the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoirs.
    3. Fill the reservoir with fresh DOT 3 type brake fluid.
    4. Using a wooden dowel, or equivalent, pump the piston slowly several times until no more air bubbles appear in the reservoirs.

    1. Disconnect the 2 short lines, refill the master cylinder and securely install the cylinder cap.
    2. If the master cylinder is on the vehicle, it can still be bled, using a flare nut wrench.
    3. Open the brake lines slightly with the flare nut wrench, while pressure is applied to the brake pedal by a helper inside the vehicle.
    4. Be sure to tighten the line before the brake pedal is released.
    5. Repeat the process with both lines until no air bubbles come out.
    6. Bleed the complete brake system, if necessary.

    If the master cylinder has been thoroughly bled and filled to the proper level upon installation into the vehicle, it is not necessary to bleed the entire hydraulic system.


    PRESSURE BLEEDING

    When bleeding the brakes, air may be trapped in the brake lines or valves far upstream, as much as 10 feet from the bleeder screw. Therefore, it is very important to have a fast flow of a large volume of brake fluid when bleeding the brakes, to make sure all of the air is expelled from the system.
    On Cirrus, Stratus, Sebring convertible and Breeze models, the following wheel sequence should be used to ensure that all the air is removed from the system:


    Left rear wheel Right front wheel Right rear wheel Left front wheel
    On Sebring coupe and Avenger models, the following wheel sequence should be used to ensure that all the air is removed from the system:


    Right rear wheel Left front wheel Left rear wheel Right front wheel

    1. You should use bleeder tank tool C-3496-B or equivalent, with the required adapter for the master cylinder reservoir to pressurize the hydraulic system for bleeding. Make sure to follow the manufacturer's directions for using a pressure bleeder.
    2. Attach a clear plastic hose to the bleeder screw located at the right rear wheel, then place the hose into a clean jar that has enough fresh brake fluid to submerge the end of the hose.
    3. Open the bleeder screw at least one full turn or more to get a steady stream of fluid.
    4. After about 4-8 oz. of fluid has been bled through the brake system and an air-free flow is maintained in the hose and jar, close the bleeder screw.
    5. Repeat the procedure at all the other remaining bleeder screws. Then, check the pedal for travel. If pedal travel is excessive or has not improved, enough fluid has not passed through the system to expel all of the trapped air. Be sure to monitor the fluid level in the pressure bleeder. It must stay at the proper level so air will not be allowed to re-enter the brake system through the master cylinder reservoir.
    6. Once the bleeding procedure is complete, remove the pressure bleeding equipment from the master cylinder.


    MANUAL BLEEDING

    See Figure 2
    Proper manual bleeding of the hydraulic brake system will require the use of an assistant.
    On Cirrus, Stratus, Sebring convertible and Breeze models, the following wheel sequence should be used to ensure that all the air is removed from the system:

    4. Close the bleeder screw. Release the brake pedal only AFTER the bleeder screw is closed.
    5. Repeat the procedure 4 or 5 times at each bleeder screw, then check the pedal for travel. If the pedal travel is not excessive, or has not been improved, enough fluid has not passed through the system to expel all of the trapped air. Make sure to watch the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir. It must stay at the proper level so air will not re-enter the brake system.
    6. Test drive the vehicle to be sure the brakes are operating correctly and that the pedal is solid.

    did you try to reset your brake switch at the brake pedal under dash, or replace it, sounds like through the process of bleeding brakes you might of broken it or bumped it loose causing it to be on, follow brake pedal up under dash and you should find it

    How do i get the calippers of to get old pads out and new ones in


    front brake pads replacement you need only usually wrench set, inclusive 7 mm allen key also. But for rear brake pads replacement you need obligatory a special caliper piston pressing tool, in order to press back rear caliper piston with parking brake automatic adjustment!!!
    For front brake pads. You should buy the brake pads (with wear sensor). For change front brake pads you must raise vehicle, remove wheels, extract the retaining spring of the caliper, and remove the caliper as follow:
    1. Do not disconnect the brake hose from the caliper, and do not allow the caliper to hang by the brake hose!
    2. Remove top and bottom caps (on back side of the caliper) for access to guide pins, then unbolt and remove them from the brake carrier. Remove the caliper.
    3. Now you must thoroughly clean the brake calipers (free of grease).
    4. Remove outer brake pad from brake carrier.
    5. Pull inner brake pad out of brake caliper piston.
    6. Check up the brake fluid level on the reservor, and emptying if neccessary!
    7. Push piston back into brake caliper housing.
    8. Install inner brake pad (with expanding spring) in brake caliper piston. (Arrow marked on pad - if exist, must point in direction of brake disc rotation when vehicle is moving forward).
    9. Install outer brake pad into brake carrier.
    10. Bolt brake caliper housing to brake carrier using two guide pins. Tightening torque is 25 Nm.
    11. Install both caps.
    12. Insert retaining spring into brake caliper housing. Important: Depress the brake pedal firmly several times while the car is stationary so that the brake pads adjust to their normal operating positions!!! Check brake fluid level and top up if neccessary!!!

    WHY IS MY 2000 S 80 ABS LIGHT COMES ON WHEN I JUST REPLACE THE 4 RORORS AND PADS PLUS ONE CALIPPER I DO NOT GET WHY THE LIGHT IS ON . IT COMES AND GOES.


    Few things:
    1. Are you absolutely certain that they changed all four rotors, brake pads and the caliper?
    2. Can you verify that the brake lines were bled properly? And the fluid is topped up with mfg'd compliant brake fluid.
    3. Double check to see that the condition codes are cleared.
    4. Is there any discoloration in the brake fluid? (leak or contamination)

    I have a 1987 bmw 535is, I replaced the abs pump,and bled the system, the left front brakes and rear right are not working. only two wheels are braking. how to solve this


    normally abs system use two seperate module unit. each module control the front and rear whell by crossside like u said the front left and rear back are disfuntion. maybe ur replacement abs module have prob or trie 2 bled again

    I need to know how to bleed the brakes on a 1999 chevy blazer


    Start from right rear, then, left rear, right front, left front. Fill master cylinder. Have helper sit in car, have helper hold brake pedal down. open bleed screw. fluid and air comes out. close screw. release brake pedal. Continue until no air comes out. Move to next wheel. Keep an eye on master cylinder fluid level after each wheel.
