1998 ford explore will not move in any gear

OD light flashing indicates a problem with the transmission. The problem could be a transmission mechanical, hydraulic or electrical issue. I would have the issue looked at by a transmission shop.

The friction plates maybe well worn and need replaced. Torque converter may be failing. Automatic transmissions can and will wear out in time. 14 years is alot for any vehicle.

The OD light is flashing to alert u to the fact that some kind of fault has occured in the transmission, the problem is in many cases a slipping condition, you need to have the trans control system tested for the trouble codes that are stored when this light flashes, this will let u know what the problem is and a direction to follow to repair it.
