# How many miles/kilometers can I drive more if led of used breaking pads has turned red?

Posted by on

• Rafał Hawrylak Dec 29, 2008

What you wrote is right but still are you able to tell me how many miles/kilometers this is?

• Rafał Hawrylak Dec 29, 2008

Thanks for your post. What I meant is that the led is starting to be on when the CERTAIN width of breaking pads is reached. This means that I have a certain width of my breaking pad. Assuming calm way of driving there must be a certain number of miles that I can drive before the rotors are damaged. Sorry for my not perfect english. I have already asked my mechanic and he said that I can go even up to 500-1000 km but i need to watch out, not to break rapidly and use my engine to break as much as possible, which is obvious

You need to change them in short order or you will be changing the rotors as well- guaranteed.

Well that is a hard one to answer, because I have no idea of the condition of your brakes now. The rule of thumb is, when the indicator light, for your car, or, the squealer comes on in others, you need to get to a garage as soon as convenient or get the car on stands and do it yourself.

### Kilometers to miles

Multiply kilometers by .6 example '100 kilometers is 60 miles. I always figure so many kilometers and multiply by .6.
If you go 30 kilometers and want miles you figure 30 times .6 equals 18 miles.
Hope this helps.

### Does distance show kilometers or miles?

On a digital display the default in U.S. is miles. Refer to your owner's manual or call dealer if you need to change it. A km is .6 of a mile, so just drive about 10 blocks (around a mile). If the odometer registers around 1 unit more it's probably miles, if it says close to 2 then it's probably km.

### Purchased focus sport 2006 model no service manual. Mileage 43,000 kms. Need to know service intervals either time/mileage perhaps a copy of the service schedule will suffice.

These maintenance intervals come from the maintenance interval calculator
at www.autozone.com, using a starting point of 25,800 miles (43000 km), and
assuming 1000 miles (1666 km) driven per month, and "severe driving conditions," which
are actually normal usage characteristics, such as frequent short trips, urban driving, waiting in traffic, driving in hot weather, trips under 16 km in cold weather, etc.

### I bought a used 2003 A4 Convertible Audi 3.0 Feels it burns more gas than expected. Is there anything I can check or do to reduce that. Thanks Sean

to see what you get for mileage, take it to a gas station and fill it till the pump stops and reset your trip meter. Drive it around like you normally would to work or whatever till the tank is almost empty and go fill it up again till the pump stops. Its best to go to the same pump you used before. Once it is full look to see how many gallons or liters you put in(This is how many you used since the last time you filled up). Take the number of miles/kilometers from your trip meter(the number of miles/kilometers you drove since you last filled up) and divide it by the gallons/liters you used and you will get your miles/kilometers per gallon/liter. Compare this with the rating your vehicle is suppose to get. But remember it can very depending on how you drive.

### ON THIS CAR WHEN DOES THE TIMING BELT NEED TO BE CHANGED ?

your timing belt needs to be replaced every 90,000 miles on the older cars they are to be replaced at every 60,000 miles. but if it was me i would do every 60k just because breaking a timing belt can cost you a motor and for your camery that can cost up to 2000 for a rebuilt motor.
