Question about 1998 Ford Escort
Is the car getting gas .... lots of times the fuel filters get clogged up so it will take awhile to crank and when it starts it will not stay running.. there's only 3 components fuel, air, and spark. If its starting that means your getting spark and air is not usually a problem unless your muffler is clogged so most likely your not getting fuel so if the filter has not been changed in awhile that's what i would advise doing its easy and cheap prob 10 bucks. You can get everything from advanced auto if you have any other questions just get back to me id be more then happy to help you through the steps and if you can please rate me id appreciate it .

not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can
be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it
can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or
no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition
coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.
confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.
