My taurus starts up by itself in the middle of the night when its cold out, how do i stop this?

The easiest way to fix it would be to kill power to the remote device or pull the starter wire at the solenoid. You would have to reconnect the starter when you want to crank the engine.

Car will not start. I hear the winding of the starter but the car will not turn over. I think its not engaging correctly. I did run through some big puddles the day prior. I thought I would wait it out and...

Sounds like the starter solenoid or starter motor not engageing. Remove the complete starter motor assembly and take it to a shop to have it tested. Also when you remove the starter from engine look at the flywheel teeth to see if they are sheared off causing a no start condition. Hope this will help you.

I got a 1998 wind star i just put a new starer put still dont crank

put a socket on the crank pulley and see if you can turn it but hand. you should be able to move it . If you can't then there is something wrong with the engine. if you can then try to start it with jumper starter remote. if it starts then it is in your ignition, if you still don't get any movement then the starter you just bought might not be a good one.
