Question about 1997 Pontiac Bonneville

Open Question

Windshield wipers delay not working

It seems that the timing of the windshield wipers is off. Instead of delaying when the wipers are down, the delay happens when the wiper is halfway up. When they are set to low and high, they operate as normal.

Wipers stop in the middle of my wishield, will not park properly

Sorry , no adjustment .
Wiper/Washer System Components
The Wiper / Washer System consists of the following components:
• Windshield wiper / washer switch
• Windshield wiper system module / motor
• Windshield washer fluid pump
• Windshield washer fluid level switch
• WPR 25A fuse
Wiper / Washer System Operation
The windshield wiper motor module is part of the windshield wiper motor cover and controls the wiper motor operation. The windshield wiper motor is a 2 speed motor. Windshield wiper DELAY operation is a low speed wiper motor function with a variable delay interval between the wipe cycles. The DELAY interval is controlled through a series of resistors within the wiper / washer switch.
Park Position Operation
When the windshield wiper / washer switch is turned to the OFF position while the wiper motor is somewhere in mid-cycle, the wiper motor module will continue to operate the wiper motor until the wipers reach the park position. If the ignition is turned off while the wipers are in mid-cycle, the wipers will stop immediately where they are. The wipers will park the next time the ignition is cycled to the ON position.

My 1991 oldsmobile cutlass cieras windshield wipers do not work properly. They will not wipe the windows, they only go up about 2 inches b4 going back down. They will keep doing that untill I stop them on...

if your wipers have the delay option, change the wiper motor control module, located just inside the plastic cover on the wiper motor (under hood below windshield).

In delay cycle wiper hesitates

The hesitation of the wipers in delay cycle is normal. You can twist the nob on the end of the arm to speed up or slow down the hesitation.
If you are driving in a light mist and the wipers ran at normal speed most of the time the would be wiping a dry windshield. Chattering and bouncing. With the delay set at the right speed the wipers only go on every so often, No dry chattering. In a full rain just twist the knob past the delay cycle to get low or high speed from the wipers.
Hope this helped you.

Intermittent windshield wipers

It sounds like the circuit board to the wiper module is cracked or has bad connection. There was a recall a few years back on certain GM model for this. I know you can get one at Auto Zone and they can give you the step by step instruction to replacing it.
Most of the time, the problem is the connection at the solder joint. Its a easy fix if you have a soldering gun and solder, just solder the break in the board or replace it.
Good luck and hope this helps.

How to fix the timing on windshield wipers. when you use delay it stops in up possition not the down.

There is a switch that indicats to the control module the wipers are down and parked, it is called the park switch, it is part of the wiper motor and in order to fix the issue you will have to replace the entire windshield wiper motor assy.
