THIS A 1988 Nissan pathfinder it doesn't have a crank sensor.

  • O Mclean May 11, 2010

Check engine control fuses (or any other blown Fuses first) then make sure that you are getting power supply to the coil and get back to me.

You might check the cranshaft sensor, it controls the spark to the plugs and coil

Hey just went through the same thing. Our 1988 pathy wouldn't start. Started with coil and then module.. Turns out to be the diode in distributor.

Why would a 1995 Nissan pathfinder v6 idle roughly in general idle mode?

Although usually fuel problems are actually electrical problems, check for a vacuum leak, hissing around the intake manifolds, and the acknowledged test is to carry out aimed squirts of WD40 at the joins in the manifold and see if the revs rise or fall.
after that check the idle air control and the Mass airflow sensor, and definitely clean the MAF if you haven't done so recently...

Has no spark. replace the control module and still no spark

first check for power at distribuitor terminal if pwr replace ing coil, if no power check ing switch, also a common problem is some one accidentally cause a spark or short one of the fuse links by the starter may be open check them all.

No spark, 1988 Toyota Camry 3SFE 4cyl, 5 speed.

there is no crank sensor on this vehicles 2.0L. If you have power to the coil, new coil, cap and rotor try this if not done yet>>>Unplug coil power first....Try pulling off the distributor cap, and make sure the rotor is spinning with the cam...If this fails to spin, inspect the entire distributor assembly. If it passes, Inspect all the power circuit and wiring to the dist assembly, if ok possible ecu. i recommend having a mechanic check it out!! Hopefully this helps...please rate...thanks

1989 Nissan Pathfinder Vg30I-V6 turn's over but wont start

Dear Phoebejanis: If your ignition coil is hot and you can get a spark coming off of the coil wire, the only thing I can suspect would be a problem with a bad rotor in the distributor. If the coil is delivering to the distributor but it travels no further, the energy must be dissipating somewhere. If a rotor has a short, the plug wires will never be delivered any spark.
Also a distributor cap with a missing carbon button which rides on the top of the rotor may be missing. I really cant think af any other things it could be.
If I have solved your problem, please let other's know by writing in, so they will learn, not to mention the ATTABOY's I might get.
Good luck.

Ignition coil replacement

Ignition coils seldom go bad, if you don't have spark, suggest you check the power transistor first.
