It can be plugged charcoal canister. Or faulty gas tank vent. For that you should check the vent tube/hose, that runs along side your filler pipe, it may be plugged or kinked.
Good Luck

The only thing you can do is check the fuel tank vent hose. Replacing this should help your problem. Or at least help you figure out what the problem is. if you need further assistance let me know. Please take a moment to accept and rate my solution accordingly.
Thank you,

Where is the fuel filter located on a 2001 Hyundai elantra

That fuel filter is in the fuel tank, attached to the fuel pump. Not a very difficult job. Remove the rear seat cushion, then remove the access panel to the pump. Remove the gas cap to relieve any pressure. Remove the ground wire and fuel lines, then remove the filter.

How do you replace filter for 2006 Hyundai elantra

The fuel delivery system integrates the fuel filter with the in-tank fuel pump. To service this filter, remove the fuel pump that is in the gas tank.

My santa fe 2004 start a few seconds and then shuts down

Here are some possibilities: Faulty EVAP canister vent valve, EGR valve stuck open, intake manifold vacuum leak, fuel filter clogged, fuel pump weak, fuel pump inlet screen clogged due to ice crystals at bottom of fuel tank, throttle body gasket leak, idle air control valve faulty, MAP or MAF sensors faulty.

It should be located inside the fuel tank with the pump assembly. it basically wraps around the pump. Access panel under the rear seats. No need to remove the tank.

Where is the fuel pump on a 1990 hyundai excel?

There was no elantra in 1990, the car you selected is an excel.

Either way it is in the fuel tank.

Unable to put gas into the tank. Pump keeps shutting off like the tank is full, it's not.

There is a filter on the tank vent that is plugged. It is not letting the air escape from the tank during fillup causing positive pressure which will will shut off the gas pump. I don't know where it is on your model but some are under the back behind the fuel tank. It is usually a 6" square plastic box with a hose on it and louvers on the sides.

Can't fill the tank

There is a breather tube fitted to the tank which allows air to escape when you fill it with fuel.

That is either blocked or compressed.

When you take the filler cap off is there a gust of air in or out of the tank

Unable to fill the gas tank when the car is sitting level

These fuel tanks are designed weird, they have a hump in the middle for the driveshaft. Most of the time I have found if the pump clicks off early it is the fuel vent valve, which is located on the rh side, but a fuel cut valve could do the same thing. If the pump clicks off early (sometimes after 1 gal), make sure the canister filter isn't clogged and replaced the vent valve.

I , i try to find the fuel filter for my hyundai elantra 2001

The fuel filter is located under the rear seat in a compartment above the fuel tank. Also, a filter sock at the base of the fuel pump located
in the fuel tank.

On 2001 models the fuel filter is part of the fuel pump. To replace the fuel filter, disconnect the negative battery cable, remove the back seat and take fuel pump cover off to get to the fuel pump. Then you have to 1) disconnect the electrical connector from fuel pump/fuel sending unit, 2) disconnect the high pressure hose and the fuel return hose from the fuel pump and 3) remove the fuel pump mounting flange screws. You can then lift the fuel pump and replace the filter.

Good luck and hope this helps

Gas problems with my 2001 Hyundai Elantra

remove the fuel tank and check that all the hoses connected to and from the tank are not clogged and in good condition...the reason why the fuel pump clicks is that it senses that there is fuel near the nozzle of the hose which means that the fuel you're putting isn't draining as fast as it should be
